Because, of course, the virus can only be transmitted at night. Brilliant.

  • Quite stringent measures for a Country that shows so few cases ????

  • What's the point? The numbers of covid19 deaths will be astronomical whether or not a curfew is imposed or not. Plus the numbers given up to now are pathetic and an insult to even the stupidest in soc

  • Doesn’t bother me in the slightest, im in bed at 8 most nights.

This curfew will just squeeze the life out of the people even more. The country is gonna be in a dreadful state when this thing is declared over and borders open, etc again.

If the economy doesn't collapse completely i'll be amazed

Excellent, you clearly have some solid research and evidence to support this. When you finish your next Chang, Professor, can you post it please.

North Korea has zero cases of this virus. Baffles me why other countries aren't copying their model to contain the spread of this virus........

At least copy China's model, huh?

Notes me that there are still some that believes in Santa, but by all means, its said that Christmas lasts until Easter...

I think it should be 8pm the other night a group of Farang outside 7/11 drinking the sauce looked like a few Russians

It IS 8pm in Phuket! Has been for a few days now.

Everything closed at night just means more crowding during the day. What a farce.

With who, that is the question. I'm guessing someone has already made this "oh so witty" remark. I tend to read the first and last comments on a lengthy thread. I must say most of them develop into a pi#$ing contest.

O-P-I-N-I-O-N

Snig? seriously? Perhaps I should be reaching for UD.

I am getting tired of all the negative response.most people here do nothing only complaining.

ST.....Starts at 10 ends at 4 no need for LT

Not a positive outlook for Thailand and other countries hit by the Coronavirus crisis.

As others have said, this wont affect 99.9% of us, or Thais, as there is already nowhere to go. It doesn't take much imagination to see that its aimed at probably young Thais who are out meeting up at the beach or the river etc, having pick-up truck parties. Or the foreigners having 7/11 front step parties

Bring it on, the sooner we get 100% lockdown, the sooner life gets back to normal.

People still dont get it, if everyone stays home for 2-3 weeks the virus dies. Its not a government conspiracy or a plot to get rid of foreigners.

Useless decision and late.   It takes 24 hours curfew, suspension of all flights in and out, keep people at home, no mass transportation, no public events...etc

Only essential services and only none person per house allowed to go out for groceries.

Otherwise, things will continue to get out of control.

It's already scary and creepy to go out after 10 p.m. where I live. I did the other night and I felt like a sitting duck for crims, snakes, fleeing frogs, wild dogs, and overly inquisitive police officers. So I've already curfewed myself!

Jingthing, i hope your ok, please don't go out after dark ...  those mozzies can be hell

Well, TVF has a Community Service Volunteer who likes to publicise the fact that he is one.

Maybe his time has come.

You posted this after my comment about military and possibly the curfew is there to provide security at night.

I don't know what '...that he is one' means. Who is that one you are referring to?

And not this riddle:

"Well, if you don't know, it means you haven't noticed. I which case, the answer is to notice more and demand less.

Just a suggestion you understand..."

No, I don't understand.

Speak up clearly if you have to say something

I quite enjoy the 19th, but I'll give the rest a pass thanks.

Inevitable. Rather be in UK and glad I left already.

Good luck

Yes, saw this on the Thai TV news, then came here to see if anything was mentioned.

Seems reasonably sensible, not sure how they're going to police it, especially in outlying areas.

I guess this is the 'last chance' to prevent a massive spread, if it fails then it's going to play out over many months as it spreads through the population who go out and mingle with others.

This morning our pu yai announced over the loudspeaker that nobody from outside the village would be allowed in. Now everybody in the village has a mask on by order of the pu yai, a few days ago nobody wore one.

Yea but I think the jam packed line a immigration is a conspiracy to get rid of foreigners through Corona infection...

Curfew starts officially tomorrow with military and police on roadways, steet corners and intersections, asoke being a busy place for military and police, I expect tanks will roll any day as well.

Good job if Khun Prayut is to stop the covid19 from spreading further.

Myanmar and Laos both started closing their borders, with Laos closing schools, long before any official cases were confirmed. Obviously you don't know what's really going on here.

So firstly the bars were closed down when simple social distancing rules in every bar in the country could have been implemented. Break the rules and get kicked out and on a pub watch list. 50% occupancy limits on patrons maximum

Not sure which was next, the 6pm limit on alcohol purchases or the above implemented on restaurants too
Then convenience stores were ordered to close at 10pm
Then a ban on buying alcohol at all
Now a curfew at 10pm

Im actually a big boy now and since I was about 12 I was allowed to play out until 10pm and if I was 15 minutes late, I got a slight telling off but nothing major. 52 now and get treat worse than a 12 year old!!! Im quite capable of understanding social distancing, wearing a mask (even if they dont help, maybe they do maybe they dont) and not spitting in someones mouth!

This is Draconian, Totalitarian, Communist rule by the stick. I hope all you gullible idiots wake up one day and see how much you are being made fools of by bending over in acceptance. When you allow your rulers more opportunity to implement more control, you get what you deserve.

Someone said "well whats wrong with a 10pm curfew? Everything is closed anyway!!!"
I said "you have unknowingly just answered the question"

I wont be responding to any baiting posts so crack on and have your fun

Whats point of 6 hours curfew at night ?don't forget to tell covid about the curfew ? What about trucks that have to work at night to deliver food ?

Interesting. The pu yai can get instant obedience on masks, but there is not a single pu yai in Thailand that can prevent burning off.

Lol, you're not getting it Peter.

Really.

Staying at home does not kill the virus.

It would have in the very early stages. But not now, the virus has spread.

Staying at home does nothing very much, at most buys a few days.

The virus spread will only be stopped by testing and isolating the infected. By taking the fight to the virus. Hiding will not do much. This grand government strategy from the UK of doing nothing was only adopted because the UK did not have test kits. And they saw that China used social distancing. So social distancing was all they had. Even now they can't test properly. To think that all you have to do is stay at home frankly misses the point completely. It's a bit harder than that.
