Still have not gone far enough.

Full curfew should start at 8pm until 7am except for the obviously needed.

Trouble is who is going to enforce it ? Even in Bangkok there is not a suitable Government Dept that will.

Maybe bring martial law back in for 3 weeks & see what happens.

it doesn't have to be let it burn through or lockdown, there are alternatives. He won't be able to stop it anyway so worse of both worlds, killing the economy and people die anyway, same as other countries except Sweden and Japan

So you are only in danger of contracting the virus between 10pm and 4am. Between 4am and 10pm people will be in no danger. Good to know. The world should be told. Just more government control over the people, with no real logic or practical purpose behind it.

This is great news. I knew Thailand/Team Thailand would work this out. No virus between 4:00am and 10:00pm. Fantastic. I can take my mask off. Seems virus is active when the majoriy of Thai people are home. By home I mean sitting around drinking and eating with no concept of social distancing. Just more reactionary rubbish out of the mouths of 'experts'.

And how many will, those days when everyting is locked down, be affected of this? Quite a few I guess. There have to be more to come if this should have any other than marginal effect. 

I admit I read page one only.   Not my norm but 21 pages.  This ban from 10-4 indicates to me that a certain segment used to staying up till 4 am just didnt adhere to social distancing rules.  Were they going to private  parties,  closed  bar parties?  Loitering in front of 7-11.  Os this related to closing 7-11 at night.    Just think how many thousands of unemployed nightlife extroverts can't handle this isolation

I dont understand how the curfew is designed to limit spread.  All gathering places are already closed.  It would also be good to understand what we are trying to achieve with the total lockdown.  Is the government buying time to ramp up testing and health services in order to cope with an explosion of cases?  Is there an end game as Im not sure many people can economically take more than a month of total lockdown, given the enormous wealth disparity leading to many poor having a lack of savings for a contingency such as this.

So, lets say I invent friends to a big party 9.30 pm.  we are partying, drinking and dancing to music on high level and at 10.30 pm some neighbour call the police and tell them what is going on. So what should the police do? they could, because the curfve not ask us to leave before 4 am. So the party could go on.   

Pointless, here, no one is following even the original rules and laws. 

It seems nice making fancy new announcements and laws, but when there is no police or anyone to enforce it; who's going to do it?

The government is watching what is being done in the UK and other countries. They know their people are also watching it and expect their government to take action to protect them.

 

Since setting up a road block is a lot cheaper and easier than testing 500,000 people per week, curfews are a preferred option.

 

They think it will buy time. But that is all pointless if the fight is not taken to the virus. However, if even a country like the UK, with a long tradition of medical research, a strong pharmaceutical industry and a wide lab infrastructure is struggling to test even a fraction of what is required, one can not expect Thailand to do so.

 

Like in the UK, in Thailand herd immunity will probably be the way the virus is defeated. Therefore curfew makes no sense at all.

what would you think.... ?  you have disobeyed the social distance clearances between people and god knows what other laws you've broken at a time when stringent measures are in place to kurb spreading of the virus.

Hi Smarty, I did not say that I should. I just pointed at one of the problem that could occer if a curfew is not total, 24 hours a day, but withsome windows for shopping and things like that..

The curfew is supposed to keep miscreants at home...nothing to do with the virus imo

The government should also consider rolling out an education campaign - showing how the virus is spread etc. Long story short, the need for social distancing. Otherwise, people might be off the streets but huddled in groups at home drinking, eating and partying - which will be contrary to what social distancing - and the curfew - are trying to achieve.

 

And as usual, this being Thailand (and this is not Thai-bashing), the challenge is also enforcement and policing the curfew. Good luck and I honestly hope it works, for the sake of everyone.

You do realise that that is 10 o'clock at night until 4 o'clock the following afternoon (a lot later than "dawn"  - in fact I would say approaching dusk again!) ????
