Foreigners on the beach: A spot of exercise or breaking the rules?

Foreigners on the beach: A spot of exercise or breaking the rules?

The We Love Pattaya page on Facebook showed a video of a group of foreigners exercising on Jomtien beach.

The media said they were there every day between 7 and 8.30 am.

The locals were concerned about them not wearing masks. They were even "ngong" - perplexed.

They didn't seem to be taking Covid-19 as seriously as the Thais, was the suggestion. The authorities should have a word.

The group seemed to be practicing social distancing, notes Thaivisa and experts have told people that keeping up with one's exercise is important.

Didn't 150 Thais just fly in from overseas to Bangkok and ignore the orders to quarantine for 14 days?

  • Another 100 metres further down the beach there's a group of Thais doing the same.

As long as it's not between 10pm and 4am, there is nothing wrong with it...

Or did they impose a lock down already ???

Yesterdays news about Chonburi closing all beaches, does that apply to walking on the beach road for regular exercise with face mask on?

In Bang Saray (15km south of there), the entire beach is roped off. Nobody allowed on it at all.

I see a problem on the horizon with all the soi dogs who now are able to roam free but there is nobody there to feed them when we are allowed to go back to the beaches will these rabid wild animals take a instant dislike to humans invading their beaches?

Where i am,  i walk everyday in a beautiful park. They put tape around the childrens play ground to stop the kids touching the climbing frames, however that has not stopped Thai families ripping down the tape and continuing as if everything is ok. I fear because of this wreckless irresponsible behavior very soon my daily exercise will be curtailed as they will close the park altogether - Thanks to Thai people if this happens.

Is swimming allowed at Jomtien beach or laying on the beach as long as you keep 6 feet from others ?

Seems details very unclear if there are any restrictions in this area especially regarding  swimming in the ocean but now it is so clear .

If it is the same group, I believe one posted on Facebook and I read his tale of how he was treated on arriving. A right mess of wasted time and incompetence by Thai authorities mistreating their own people.

Basically, if you're a foreigner right now in the LOS, you are more watched and focused on by locals.

Anyone who has any idea of how Thai people are (I'm confident regardless) that they will talk about foreigners any time of the day especially if they are nearby when talking in a group.

It's like they cannot resist it. And it is an easy go to topic to avoid whatever they may be talking about at the time. Ha.

Next, I'll tell you how I really feel...

I hope they develop an appetite for rats.

Went down Beach Road on the back of a motorbike yesterday morning and the Coconut Bar was already open for business.

A couple of troll posts have been removed.

There are people both foreign and Thai sitting on the beach at Jomtien sunbathing and swimming - maybe they are now aware of the ban - nobody is telling them to move on - granted there are not very many but they are there

As long as you are moving you should not have a problem (for now).

I know 2 people that have been bitten by soi dogs at the bottom of Soi 5 Pratumnak in the last couple of weeks.

Every evening I go jogging in my Mo-Baan, and every time I pass some elderly Thai's out walking, they put on their masks ???? , when I pass them again 15 mins later they put on their masks again .. .. .. .. .. Maybe I should order one of these dinosaur costumes and use while jogging - just to see if they put on their masks ????

I’m beginning to think “ the locals think” stories are fake news. What’s the point anyways?  Oh yah.

Yes. Pattaya and Jomtien are in Chonburi province.

-Closure of all beaches in Chonburi. There is no exception for swimming, like was originally discussed. Total closure of the beach and beach activities.

In the UK you are not allowed to sunbathe or hang about. Fines have been issued and the Scottish health advisor has just resigned because she was caught visiting her second home twice when she was saying one thing and doing another.

There is evidence this virus can hang about in the air. That's why i think they want everyone locked up.

well they are stupid, but one would not think the general iq level of expats in Pattaya would be too high,i mean when you basically have 3 things to consider a day,1 when shall i start drinking,2 which whore am i gonna have tonight and 3 what shall i eat, no wonder.

Just get married and then never have any choice again.

Looks to me as though social distancing is being observed!

Well they are not enforcing the ban on Jomtien Beach, just bad a drive along it and around the immigration Soi area still a good few people sunning themselves on the beach.

Never let a good Pandemic go to waste, as the XXX business explodes...and The Pizza Company has a 2 for 1 special....Pizza and PORN
