You couldn't make it up. Only last month, there was a spike in Thailand's COVID 19 caused by returnees from a Muslim festival in Malaysia which drew 15,000 faithful and lasted several days.

 

Now, while officials are still trying to track down the web of infections resulting from that farce, history has repeated itself, this time in Indonesia - with similar devastating consequences in terms of new infections.

 

With the rest of Thailand is in lockdown mode and the entire population virtually under house arrest, religious freedom must be made to conform with the raft of new rules and regulations made to protect the safety and security of us all at this time of crisis. 

 

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Suspend all religious festivals and gatherings, close down all places of worship (yes, including Buddhist temples) and ask the temporarily redundant priests, monks and imams  pray for the rest of us while self-isolating.

Although logic suggests that these Thai returnees contracted the virus in Indonesia,there remains a possibility that they could have been infected in Thailand before they entered Indonesia.

An interesting experiment would have been to test all Thais entering Indonesia,which would then give us a more realistic impression of actual infections in Thailand.

Keep in mind that the covid-19 test gives a false negative about 30% of the time!

This was a planned repatriation flight and all the necessary precautions were in place. They are Thai citizens and are entitled to return.

 

How would you feel if you were told by your mother country that you couldn't come home?

As I live in the region, I'd danm well hope the quarantine will be applied successfully and there will be no infected sent back into the populace.

Most religions are selfish entities. 

Now just imagine how many people around the world really had or have or carried the virus?  So many more than most officials assert as they only list the tested positive confirmed cases.  I think I read that Iceland has tested the largest percentage of a soverign population.  Unfortunately any statistics from that island may be a bit misleading as Iceland, is not quite the same as the USA or the UK or several other Nations that have large massive airports and had millions of travelers from around the world crossing their borders in recent months

A reasonable conclusion is that certain countries don’t have the infrastructure to test and monitor effectively, so if we are trying to take some comfort from relatively low reported infection numbers, this might be misplaced....

yes correct I quoted that many times and every body laughs at me

reports from family and friends living in Phatthalung are that they are having  similar problem, muslims are ignoring the govt directives and  many muslims  are coming down with the virus in certain areas there as they are still mixing in groups etc. You would think common sense would tell them to be at least a bit wary at this time and to take precautions, doesnt make sense.
