A British expat and popular vlogger has died after a 12 month battle with cancer.

Kevin Burt, who ran the Kev-in-Thailand YouTube channel died on Tuesday, his family confirmed in a post on Facebook.

“To his friends and associates in Thailand, right up to his final days, he always spoke fondly of his time there and I know that he would appreciate it if you could celebrate his life in the manner that you were accustomed to spending time with him when he was with us and in particular at ‘The Hideaway’, in Pattaya”, the post read.

Kevin had been vlogging about expat life in Pattaya and Thailand for several years and had built up a sizable following on his YouTube channel.

In some of his last vlogs he had spoken about his battle with cancer and had vlogged while he was undergoing treatment in hospital in Pattaya.

What a stupid statement. Obviously you know nothing about Thailand healthcare, only to put it down cause it's thai.

It is disgusting the way some posters on there talked about Kev and in general how they seem to put down anyone in the foreign community who has troubles.   Yes, he had a GoFundMe page set u

It is said that It's not the years of your life that matters, it's the life in your years that matter the most...

Never knew ye but RIP. Condolences to family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Kev's family.  RIP knowing that you touched and help make things understandable, at least for me.

A sad passing for Someone in the 60's

He tried to get his cancer treated in Thailand, maybe that cost him his life

well he went back eventually to UK for further treatment, why did he do that if the Thai medical care was so good?

I had a bowel cancer operation here 3 years ago which saved my life.

In U.K. I’d have to have been resident for 6 months to get treatment.

He was a kind and generous man. I'm sad to see his life ended this way, but I agree that may have contributed. Getting cancer treatment in Thailand at the hospital he chose may have accelerated the problem. He also didn't have health insurance so he may not have been able to get the best treatment.

I have received mostly quality health care in Thailand, but if I had the ability to go back to the USA for something like cancer I would.

I generally don't write about personal <deleted> on Thai Visa, but I think it's appropriate here in case anyone else is worried and facing cancer treatment in Thailand.

I'm very sorry to hear this man died. But I have recently had throat cancer successfully treated in Thai hospitals, and had absolutely fantastic treatment and exemplary care by some brilliant medical professionals.

My bill for the treatment and post treatment over the past 9 months came to $21,000 in total (to date), with insurance picking up the biopsy and a tracheotomy and me funding the remaining $21K.

thats sad, this is the same kev who thailand rob was helping out  a while  ago ... i presume ..... R.I.P

You're not correct about the 6 months

Met Kev while shopping at Siambury. A genuinely nice person. His videos are his legacy and will remain an invaluable resource for anyone living or planning to live in Pattaya.

are you say that the treatment in Thailand contributed to his death  ?  can you elaborate more ..... thanks

He got treatment in Bangkok and Pattaya, cost a lot of money, then after some time the condition got worse and he went back to the UK for more treatment. I wonder whether if he'd gone back to the UK when diagnosed he would still be alive. Probably only close friends and family know his view on that

Personally for serious cancer treatment i would go straight back to the UK and not waste time and money in Thailand

Watched many of his interesting vlogs about Pattaya. 14 months ago he was fine and now he's gone. Puts things into perspective.  RIP, Kev.

He went back because he admitted that he'd never bought health insurance to cover him while in Thailand (and he was a heavy smoker as well).
When his money was running out they set up a GoFundMe. Probably didn't get much out of that.
