BANGKOK(NNT)-According to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration or CCSA, 300 more Thai citizens will return from South Korea on 14th and 15th April.

On April 14, 135 immigration detainees, overseen by South Korean officials, will depart on flight 7C2202 from South Korea, at 5 p.m. Thailand local time. The flight will arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 9 p.m.. Later the same day, the South Korean officials will return. South Korea has asked Thailand to accommodate its officials during the waiting time.

Another 165 passengers certified by the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, who were delayed due to Thailand’s international flight cancelation policy, will follow on 15th April. Their flight KE651 from South Korea will arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 10 p.m. . The Thai passengers on both flights from South Korea will be transferred for 14 days quarantine.

Excellent. I thought I could hear a muffled cheering sound coming from the East, must've been a farewell delegation from South Korea, to wish the departing Thais bon voyage. I bet they've retained a whole bunch of personal details though, that they can look up when  these Thais apply for their next tourist permit.

South Korea afforded another priceless opportunity to show how much the Thai population is welcome in their country.

Great job! I am sure all the Thais are happy to come home. I wish them all to be well, so they after quarantine can join their families.

US should send some liberals to S Korea to teach them illegals have more right and are entitled all the welfare.

Trump gets all the accusations while no one blame Korea. Logic is not ubiquitous.

Or are let go by some soon-to-be-transferred general like the last bunch.

The military was ordered to appoint new "commanders" for Swampy and Don Muang so maybe they'll be on the ball this time (knowing what happened to the last guy).

The Thais on those flights won't be happy. They've basically been in quarantine for weeks already and have to spend another 2 weeks in quarantine when they arrive so they can return to their home provinces and probably be told they have to "self isolate" for another 2 weeks !

The original fiasco 2 weeks ago was resolved as soon as the PM issued an order that those who left the airport without quarantine had until 6pm the day after to submit themselves for quarantine or face charges, 100% complied. All repatriation flights are now strictly controlled. They are met by a big official group of immigration, health and army officers who strictly enforce quarantine. At the end of 14 days they are declared free of the virus and free to leave. They do not have to self isolate again at the village.

Thais are gifted at closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Quarantined for 14 days....555!!

Thats if they dont escape from the airport again !!!

The UK government is currently in the process of repatriating over 5000 from India to the UK, as well as thousands from elsewhere in the world.

These arrivals are being asked to self isolate.

China on the other hand are now putting international arrivals in 28 day quarantine, they cannot stop the Chinese returning, just make it difficult.

Different countries, different approach, but whatever approach is taken it is far from a laughing matter.

Have you actually told them that in advance? Are they aware of it and have acknowledged that they're going to be quarantined at a government facility instead of their homes? We really don't need another clownesque commotion at the airport.

So, you know so little about Thailand and the strong family ties, so you say a thing like that. In a situation like this, almost all Thais wants to come home and be close to their family.

Well its not a very big horse then considering the very low number of cases in Thailand. I fully expect Thailand to gradually ease restrictions from May 1st

Anybody else notice how quickly this story disappeared from the news.  After the 2nd day, I did not see a single item about how many of the escaped passengers turned themselves in and how successful the hunt was for those unwilling to turn themselves in.

I think way to embarrassing for all involved and news outlets told to let it drop.

Because as I said everyone had already turned theirself in after the PM intervened and issued the ultimatum. All people were traced and returned to quarantine. Why dont you have a look for the daily video in English from the Covid action centre at Ministery of Foreign Affairs. Its very informative.

Ok, if we should compare experience, then I am on my 23rd year living in Thailand. Guess that must make me live here too. I have had 2 marriages, 1 divorce. Have 2 daughters with my second wife with which I am still married. Have built 2 houses in Thailand and running 3 active companies. Besides that I travel a lot and have a huge mount of experience from different sections in society.

Wonder if that makes you understand where the experience and knowledge lives. However, I wish you luck with all the knowledge that you are stating that you have.

Oooh! That was you! I just replied, due to that you were totally wrong in your assumption. Apparently you could not take that, and started referring to me as a person from another planet. Then I am also presenting myself. When I do that, it´s wrong and the topic is not about us. :clap2:

Just remember that you started to talk about us, by assuming you had more experience. That was not the case. Reality bites!

As for going back to you blunt post about that "Money rules all in the Thai Psyche". That is definitely not my experience. I am well aware of that this country have it´s share of both good and bad people, like every other country in the world. What makes the minority of Thais that only think about money so visible, is the big amount of foreigners that settled down living in this country with them. Clearly they made the bad choice, didn´t see the signs. Lost it all, are bitter and feel the need to blame all Thais on a wider scale. I can assure you that there are much more foreigners that are happy with there life, Thai family nd the way they deal with money than there are complainers. It´s just that they are the ones you hear and see, which make a very small minority look like a big problem. That´s how it is with everything all over the world too.

The authorities must keep in mind what happened previously. Hopefully this time some of the passengers won't have spiders in there pants

Boo hoo... my younger sibling was basically in isolation at her foreign posting (effectively self-quarantine) like a lot of people in the world.... and then the government repatriated (mandatory if you have pre-existing conditions) people which then had to go through another 14 day quarantine in a hotel designated for the purpose.   It is just the state of the way things are right now.
