Forest fires raging through Tak’s mountains

Border districts in Tak province are the latest to be hit by a series of fires that have been scorching the North and causing severe haze over recent weeks. Forest fires were reported to be blazing in five districts bordering Myanmar on Tuesday (April 14).

The fiercest fires are raging in Tak’s Umphang district, where more than 200 hotspots have been detected.

The mountainous landscape is hampering the efforts of officials and volunteers to stem the progress of the fires.

Officials said many of the forest fires were started by local people, both in Umphang and over the border in Myanmar. They also suspect that locals have been burning the forest to make it easier to gather wild produce such as mushrooms.

If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today, you'd better go in disguise
For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain
Because today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

Bears have no respect for the law....

What the hell - thais will burn the freaking planet as long as the mushrooms are their money makers.
