When I switched on my PC this morning and tried to start an application that I use daily, it failed to connect to the net. Trying to browse to the vendors website the page was not displayed - error message: name not resolved. This indicated a DNS server issue. I looked at the router settings and noticed that the DNS server had been changed to 89.207.131.21  A quick search revealed this was the address of a known DNS Attack server.

I had to change all the DNS settings back to  google dns servers. I also changed the PC network adapter settings to use the same dns servers I set  and not the routers. In addition, I also changed the routers admin password just in case, and also the wan connection user name from a <deleted>**kuf*g (the asterisks replace other letters that you can probably guess). This user name has been reported by many people with hacked routers.

This is for information should anyone else have the same issues.
