Foreign nationals, most of whom are Chinese, continue to enter the Kingdom despite the government’s restrictive measures amid the coronavirus pandemic, revealed Phnom Penh International Airport director Sao Wathana yesterday.

“On some days, about a hundred passengers come to Cambodia. On others, there are about 60,” he said, adding some of the passengers only transit in Cambodia before flying to their respective destinations. “Those who do enter Cambodia are businessmen,” said Mr Wathana.

He noted all entering visitors have fulfilled the mandatory 14-day self-quarantine, as instructed by the government. On March 27, the government issued a regulation suspending visa issuance and visa-free privileges to all foreigners for one month. The directive stated any foreigner planning to enter the Kingdom must provide a medical certificate confirming he or she is not a carrier of the coronavirus.
