BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) has reported that the COVID-19 pandemic is having positive effects on the natural ecosystem, as it provides time for many tourist destinations to recover. The amount of garbage, including discarded face masks and plastic waste however, has increased exponentially.

Thais abroad start returning via land border crossings

BANGKOK (NNT) - Today is the first day during which Thai nationals abroad, can return to Thailand using border crossings into 21 provinces, after the recent temporary closure to control the spread of COVID-19. Related agencies have prepared screening procedures and quarantine facilities for all returnees.

Chiang Mai Governor prohibits people from land rotation farming in huge burnt area

CHIANG MAI (NNT) - The Governor of Chiang Mai has decreed that land rotation farming must not be carried out in more than 20,000 burnt areas and that such farming areas must not be expanded or the violators will be strictly prosecuted.

Field hospitals are an important facility to aid quarantine and maintain isolation. Grand Bella Hotel in Pattaya is now among several hotels in the country converted into field hospitals for COVID-19 patients. The hotel also serves as a COVID-19 test center for people in Pattaya city.

Daily new cases must fall below 10 to contain Covid-19

To keep the spread of Covid-19 at bay, daily new cases have to be in single digits, the spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said, urging people to continue wearing masks and observe social distancing even if some lockdown restrictions are eased at the end of this month.
