Hi all,

I'm currently in the UK - and will return to Thailand after a 2 month visit here. I am on a one year extension visa based on marriage, and have the required reentry permit. My question is what happens regarding the 90 day reporting - do I report to immigration on my return or wait 90 days after my reentry into Thailand?

Thanks for your help in advance

At arrival you fill in the arrival card (TM 6) which is your first report.

90 days after arrival report again a.s.o.

Good to get a confirmation so I agree.

Hi all

I am here with a Three year non-immigrant B visa and am about to reach my 90 day limit, so need to head out for a little holiday or report to the immigration office.

In the past I have always travelled at least once in 90 days and it has not been an issue but this time I did not and was wondering if I choose not to travel (feeling a bit lazy this week - can go to Penang or HK etc but not really in the mood) is it a hassle to go to the Immigration Bureau and report? I am assuming you have to go to the office in BKK on soii Suan Plu but am not sure.

Do they just ask your address and let you go? Or do you get grilled and subjected to long waits and fees in order to do this? Any comments would be appreciated. If it is a hassle I will just take a trip.

Thanks

You report to any immigration office with passport and filled out TM.47 form (or fill out at office). Suan Phlu might be a 30 minute process at times but most places are even faster. In Bangkok you can also do at the new airport (in hotel) or at the One Stop Center just up the road from Central Plaza Latphao. They check that the form is filled out and provide bottom as receipt with next visit date stamped on it. No interview and no cost.

Lopburi, thats great news, thanks for all your help.

If I may let me ask two follow ups.

1. is there a link you know of to download the TM.47? I am starting a search now but maybe you know of a quick one.

2. The one stop centre you refer to; is that the same one (or the same as) the One Stop centre at MRT Sutthisan? (My knowledge of BKK's regions, by name, is limited so I am nor sure if we are talking about the same place. I have visited a One Stop Centre at Sutthisan before for Work Visa issues.

Thanks again for your input

There are links at the top of this page in the pinned items section.

Yes that is the same One Stop Center but it has moved (last November) to a new office building about 3 or 400 meters North of the Latphao subway station (on same side of road as Central Plaza) - 16th floor, Rasa Tower 555 Phaholyothin Road, Soi 19 Latyao, Jatujak Bangkok 10900 ...

Thanks a heap!! I was just about to tell you I found both the address and the download but you were too quick for me.

I think given what you have said I will just go there next week as I am not in the mood right now to fly somewhere just for this - no real drive to hump around right now.

Cheers!! :o

so can someone comment on my experience two weeks ago at the airport.

earlier i had asked about this 90 day reporting process - as opposed to leaving the country, and went as described to the one stop centre and reported to the desk they told me to report to. they did all sorts of work with my passport and then gave it back to me and with a slip saying to be sure to report again before my next 90 days (july something). so i thought well that was painless and i did not have to amke a trip out of the country for no real reason other than a stamp....

now fast forward three weeks latert when i had to go overseas. i go to the passport check desk and they detain me and send me over to the "money" desk to see the man. he tells me that i have overstayed. i say no not so, i went to the immigration office and reported and here is my slip of paper in the passport that shows i reported and that i complied with the rules.

so he tells me that i do not have a stamp in my passport and the slip of paper they gave me is useless - pay 7000 THB please. i argue for 5 minutes like an idiot knowing that it will go nowhere, then go to the atm and get 7000 THB and pay so i can leave

so what about this process do i not understand?? i thought reporting means you do not have to leave. he tells me that my reporting means nothing reagrding overstay and that it does not matter that i reported, i still have to leave every 90 days or pay for overstay......

huh???? :o

any comments?

I arrived in LOS on 3 April 2007 on a multiple A-O. I will be going for a short visit to Oz on 5 July - on my count 94 days here (including arriving and departing days). Should I do a 90 day report before 1 July (the 90th day).

What is your 'admited to' stamp date says ? You should either do a run or ask for an extension of stay before worrying about the 90 days reporting.

When you arrive in Thailand, you receive a 'admited to' stamp with a date which will depend on the type of visa you have.

Generaly it is either 30, 60, 90 or 360 days after your arrival in LOS.

If you stay in LOS longer than that 'admited to' date you MUST either have that date extended within Thailand OR go out and come back with another 'admited to ' stamp.

The 90 days reporting is just that 'rerporting' and is only required IF you stay longer than 90 days in Thailand without crossing the borders. tjis reporting does not dispense you from getting the propoer extension of stay or 'admited to stamps

If you stamp is admited until 2 APril 2008 and you have a multi entry visa, I do not see on which grounds they fined you for overstay !

What was the 7.000 details ? 14 days overstay x 50 baht each ? or was it for failing to report the 90 days (well failing to get a 90 days report stanp in your passport) ?

Jackspratt: there is no need for you to make a 90 day report only being 4 days over as you are allowed 7 day. Do your next 90 day report 90 days after your return.

Kuma: as said you did a non required 90 day address report. It has nothing to do with your permitted to stay time and is not an option to avoid leaving the country - that is only available with an extension of stay obtained for a valid reason from Immigration using a TM.7 form with payment of 1,900 baht. You must exit the country before that stamped permitted to stay date or risk jail/fine. You were fined 500 baht for each day of overstay as is the normal procedure.

This may be found elsewhere but I did do a seach and many pages of looking.....

Question is: I have been here 3 years on Thai wife visa, just got my third but when I picked up my passport at Suan Phlu, I did not get a paper that said when I am to report , when the 90 days is.

Am I to believe it is 90 days from the date of issuance of the "Thai Wife" visa or from the extension of my last visa, which was one month so the can reviewmy paperwork.

Thanks in advance

It is the normal 90 days from your last report (filling out TM.47 report or TM.6 arrival form). Renewal of extensions of stay do not count as a 90 day report.

Posted

You did not get your third visa at Suan Phlu - that would be an extension of stay and after the first time has no effect on your 90 day address reporting.

Have you, or have you not made 90 day address reports in the past? If you have you will have a TM.47 receipt that provides your next scheduled report date. If you have never reported you are several years late (unless you travel every 90 days) and will likely be fined 2,000 baht on your first report - but this could increase to 5,000 baht plus a daily fine in the future.

Posted

I just realize that I absolutely totally forgot this 90 days reporting. I am about 2 months overdue.

This happened to me twice before and was no big deal at all, just got that paper clipped in my passport and everything was nice and dandy. No charges whatsoever.

Now...what is the situation a t Jomtien Immi now? Better go to Suan Plu? Leave the country?

Your suggestions, please!

Yeah....but I heard some horror stories from Jomtien lately....such as the normal under-table is now 2,000 - even if you come in time....someone can confirm this?

It seems to me that Jomtiem are making up there own Rules in some cases :

My mate has got to produce the 400.000 bht to get a Marriage visa because he has problem with meeting or Guaranteeing his income :

I thought the lump sum rule for Marriag Visa had been withdrawn (Except for Grandfather rights which he is not entitled to)

Could he be changing to a non immigrant visa by any chance? They still can use the 400k bank deposit for that I believe.
