The Public Health Ministry has reported the 20 occupations that have recorded most coronavirus infections, Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Tuesday (April 21).

The highest number of infections were recorded among self-employed workers, at 395 cases.

Close behind come business owners, at 308. These are followed by employees and factory workers (235), entertainment venue staff (176), students (164), civil servants (140), medical staff (109), housemaids (106), the unemployed (69), farmers (69), tourists (55), young children (34), hotel staff (33), taxi or public car drivers (27), guides (10), airport staff (9), monks (6), waiters (6), and religious leaders (2).

Patients aged 20-29 years old account for 684 of these cases, which are among the 2,811 recorded nationwide since the outbreak began.

The gender ratio of infections is almost equal at one female infected to every 1.16 males.

entertainment venue staff (176)

I guess some TVF members will refrain from using such services for the time being.

But more importantly, is covid-19 really round and red, as shown in the picture above?

176 out of what total number; 30,000; or 80,000; or 300,000; or 800,000; depending of source?

But just the lowest figure gives (176x100)/30,000 = 0.59%; more likely 10-fold high number and thereby lower percentage to 0.06%.

Remember advised protection ???? – I could however think of other higher risk factors...:whistling:

In a way the COVID-19 restrictions compared to the numbers of sick people and death seem out of proportion...????

Absolute values here are quite meaningless. Percentage numbers would be more meaningful.

You are right, a percentage should also have been mentioned.

The total number of occupations is just under 2,000 and the total number of recorded cases stated as 2,811 – presumed the remaining are retired elders.

Using a calculator is however not that difficult – or even round figures by head – with for example 395 of 2,811; easily i.e. 400 of 3000 slightly more than 10 percent, or about 15 percent; more precise (395x100)/2811 = 14.05%...????

I saw by the way our local Tesco-Lotus staff performing a "scary berry" dance by the cash-lines, encouraging to use face-masks...

Is that life size... surely we would have seen it coming through arrivals?
