Really shouldn't be any difference in immigration policy at all considering illegal aliens are breaking the laws of the USA by being here. How that can be interpreted differently from person to person and party to party is beyond me.

it's about the manner of enforcement e.g. forced family separation , processing of asylum seekers and so on. trump administrations enforcement rules are contrary to accepted international norms. Yes, i realise many trump supporters and others don't care about international Rule of Law, which is certainly underlined by trump still having Stephen Miller as a senior adviser.

Should have done it months ago, but he is a good hearted man and probably thought letting people in from some countries was OK.

  • Thank you, President Trump!

  • Great decision from the best President since Ronald Maximus.  Save US jobs and bring factories back to the States.    MAGA

Yeah and people like you don't care what it costs the taxpaying citizen to get your little fraudulent demographic shifting pet projects but there's a helluva alot of people that do care.

Blows my mind how a nations top politicians on the left have gone all in on campaigning for Non-Citizens and there are people who support it.

You're proving my point. Let go of the conspiracy and false personal accusations nonsense, it's one of the primary reasons why so many dislike trump & trying to engage with trump supporters.

To be frank, your positions are the ones that are fringe, not mine.

And I feel exactly the same about engaging with anyone on the left.

If the policies being advocated are that doing anything to stop illegal immigration (like a wall) is immoral - and anyone in the country illegally can stay, get a drivers-license, open a bank-acct, get "free" healthcare citizens don't get, and take a job from a citizen, and get a "pathway to citizenship" without even going back home to apply - what else does one call that, other than "open borders"?

I think one calls that, "current U.S. immigration policy". Now that you have defined that, do you have any productive policy input?

Really?  I had you down as smarter than that TBL.  I mean that NZ's decision is a short term reaction to a global pandemic and nothing whatsoever to do with immigration.  Quite the opposite of Trump's tub thumping anti-immigrant stance.

The US takes in, by far, more immigrants then any other country in the world and that is a fact. When is enough enough? Where does your country stand on accepting immigrants? I’ll bet its nowhere near what the US takes in every year, maybe you should worry more about your own country and less about ours. More Americans approve of Trump then disapprove and this will be reaffirmed come November. Hope you can take another 4 years.

If illegals don't want to be separated, don't try and enter illegally. Is that too hard a concept to understand?

Indeed, Trump would get my vote if I could in the States BECAUSE he gives the finger to the establishment, which has never done anything for the less well off, other than exploiting them or using as cannon fodder.

contrary to accepted international norms

Accepted by whom? No one ever asked me.

Although we hold diametrically opposite opinions I would never "bait" you or anyone to try and get them to say something bad. Plenty on TVF that do that to me though.

Jai yen, it's just a forum, not the UN.

Hahaha... so everything is just so obvious... no need for a supreme court then.

Interpretation of laws is a thing.

Illegal? You have to go back.

Not hard at all.

Seeking Asylum on the southern border? Stay on the Mexican side and apply like the law states, don't jump the border and then 'claim' asylum when caught.

It really is that obvious, and written in law.

As a percentage of total population U.S.A. ranked 67th in 2015...

And by total number we are in the top spot. What percentage of population has to do with anything is beyond me. Doesn't matter at all.

Immigration should be strictly family based and in support of Americans, Americans companies and to the benefit of America, not a parasite that drains billions of dollars from taxpayer.

Its just so obvious.

In other words, if a country has say 20 million inhabitants and 10 million are immigrants, that would be have less impact on that nation than would be the case for a country with 300 million inhabitants of whom 20 million are immigrants? Do you really want to stick with your position?

In fact, you have it exactly backward. It's the percentage that counts, not the total. This is basic, basic math. In fact, it's basic arithmetic.

A reasonable comparison would be percentage of legal immigrant population. As an example, as a percentage of legal immigrant population, the USA is currently around 14%, whereas in Australia it's 29%. Don't know where you get your figures, but a credible source current shows trump approval rating at 43.6%, disapproval rating is 52.4%.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

trump's Covid handling approval rating is also below 50% at 45.9%.

Im sorry, when did it become some sort of requirement to have a certain amount of migrants, illegal aliens, refugees, and legal immigrants as per percentage of population?

Its got nothing to do with percentage and everything to do with what the country needs.

The USA takes in more than anyone, percentage of population means jack unless you're working on some sick demographic manipulation of a country.

Well you DO have a point. The native Americans should have been much less welcoming.

Well, you did write this.

"and the West will simply be unable to afford their current expenditure to economic migration"

So you're saying that migration is something that represents a net cost to the West? How do you know that?
