Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar have been added to the list of countries and territories considered as high risk for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) infection on the Royal Gazette website.

A Ministry of Public Health announcement on Wednesday (April 22), signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, stated that the Covid-19 situation in these countries was escalating.

Under Sections 5 and 8 of the Communicable Disease Act BE 2558, these countries were named as high risk for infection, in order to increase efficiency in disease prevention and control among Thai authorities.

On March 6, Thailand had named four countries -- China (including Hong Kong and Macau), South Korea, Italy and Iran -- as being high risk for Covid-19 infection.

seems to encompass all Thailands border crossings and the maritime border with Indonesia so might suggest there is a bit more to come with this as part of a tool to totally close all borders particularly with the other news of two immigration officers infected at Sadao.

That is the likely unstated goal for naming those countries, irrespective of their covid case stats. Adding them to the list legitimizes continued closing off those countries for arrivals into the Kingdom.

On the other hand, as a farang I still cannot understand why stop a country and put 20 million people in technical unemployment for 2500 cases and 40 dead when there are more deaths in one day on the roads in this country .

Maybe because Corona virus is very infectious whereas road accidents are not

Malaysia's daily new cases have dropped since the middle of April, from three to two digits. Active cases also dropping, if what a mate shared is correct. And the Malaysian lockdown may well be extended, despite this. The way they handled the crisis, headed by their Director-General of public health (or something like that), have been recognised one of the best by the international community. Meanwhile, Singapore is registering four-figure increases after they 'flattened the curve'. Try to keep up, Anutin and gang, and actually do something proactive. For once.

I think I could argue the cause of road accidents, stupidity, has an R0 of about 500. As they say in the country of my origin "Stupidity intensifies in the crowds".

Just look at the numbers !!!

Less than 10,000 cases each and still everybody talks about a Pandemic ?

There are more people dying from eating Som Tam than from this fake pandemic !!!

Hmm.. let’s say the world opens up again. Over time the world is infected. Around 7billion people. With a mortality rate of let’s say 3%. If there’s no vaccine, you’re looking at 210,000,000 deaths.

Even half don’t show symptoms, +100million deaths.

Sorry Anutin - wrong again!  Get your brain into gear, Cambodia does not have an escalating infection rate (at the moment):-

I read a report yesterday in the Mail Online and it said a study in California found the mortality rate at 0.18.

210,000,000

and all at once that is the main problem'

health services cannot cope

you cannot dig holes fast enough

you gotta carry out autopsies

or Johnny be desperate is suffocating grandma in her bed to get his inheritance early

there are such a multitude of reasons

plus the 210,000,000 is  a soft estimate

its an ethics problem

who do we condemn to death

that's why we have lock downs

the sad truth is BORIS survived if he had died its a whole new ball game

he had his chance to go down in history and he blew that too

bumbling Boris...

I would not trust figures from Myanmar especially the cesspit that is Yangon

Laos is still so under developed its easy to think that they dont have a lot of infections

even after lock down and the 'new' normal  there is still the same risk

this virus is confusing the hell out of them

the report of the guy in china still detectable 2 months later

and hes not alone

of course everyone wants to blame the test kits

there is so much disbelief in the world these days

the fake news

closing the internet down on countries

who is to say there is not a few thousand web people hiding out in each countries bunkers making pages or algorithms that make pages to satisfy the masses

what is real what is not

sometime the effects on movies TV astound

we know how to make false so precisely

if the virus is a fake what is the outcome

in every conspiracy crime etc

you have to look at who benefits

so who benefits from a fake virus

so far the only winner is planet earth

the air is cleaner

the ganges is actually cleaner

has the ice poles stopped melting have they slowed

have the fires diminished in Australia

Of course for every doomsayer on here

China is the winner its about to take over the world

Its going to be the new economic powerhouse

Frankly I just get bored witless by conspiracy theory and all that goes with it and fear of who is going to be the new number 1
the fact is Donnie 'boy' 'MAGA' Trump is the numero uno head honcho

and you dont worry

we are screwed one way or the other

chill take a pill

find a bit of what you fancy

welcome to the 'new' normal????????????????????????????????????????????????
