'I kindly suggest that we during the coronavirus pandemi period make a pinned thread with transport from/to the islands – Phangan, Tao and Samui – as the normal timetables and transports are cancelled; and when restarting, they might be only with limited departures.'

Good idea

A guest went from Samui to Koh Phangan yesteday and he had to go via Nathon. (Raja???)

I will try and contact him for the details.

The new regulations for domestic flights – however, we don't know yet when Bangkok Airways is starting again, but will probably need to follow same conditions...

I have guests that want to fly Samui to Bangkok next week.

Do any of you know if there are special requirements regarding documentation needed for the flight. eg health certificate etc.

Bangkok Airways website just mentions the usual - passport for foreigners.

From June 1st Bangkok Airways will add two more Bangkok-Samui flights a day – total should then be four – all flights operated by ATR-72 airplanes.

When I scan that it opens the health pass Thailand page but says something about QR code fail..

Another well engineered Thai IT project.

Samui must be getting more busy.

Bangkok Airways have snuck an additional flight on today. PG1161. This flight number is not a scheduled flight. It is just used for extra demand.

We are certainly seeing more activity on villa bookings. All from Phuket, Krabi and Bangkok. The usual daily reporting of temperature via line is the only requirement for domestic visitors.

Can you board the Seatran as a passenger, without car? From Don Sak to Samui.

Samui airport is now showing six flights from Bangkok per day with Bangkok Airways but they have cancelled the Phuket flight. (Much cheaper to drive?)

Maybe just for the holiday weekend?

Does anyone know if the Had Rin Queen is running at the moment?

It is. I see (and hear) it running most days but not very often. Once per day perhaps?

08.00 has just arrived at Bangrak. So that is at least two per day. (!9.00 as well.)

Anyone planning to go to the mainland over the next few days - book your ferry as soon as you can.

The big exodus for Bangkok visitors starts tomorrow and they cannot get a ferry booked. Standby only.

Posted (edited)

URGENT: All ferries between the islands Phangan, Samui, and Tao, and to the mainland have been stopped from today, August 2nd for three days, including till August 4th, by decree from the Governor of Surat Thani...

UPDATE: It has been mentioned that the ordered stop of ferries is only between 5 pm and 5 am.

There are LOTS of Thais on the island at the moment with cars, wanting to drive home. Others booked to check in tomorrow.

The forcasted strong winds and waves are during the daytime as well.

What a disappointment my domestic trip to Samui.

Suvarnabhumi Airport only ONE, of THREE Multilevel carparks open, The Carpark is Totally Full, cars left in neutral to push out of the way, get your own car out later.

Samui I love the place but how things have deteriorated and the problems associated with Bangkok Airways seem to have worsened. The Bangkok Airways flight 11K return two people. Only a few Flights each day, All Full. Cheap seats on the ATR72 for thrill seekers. Generally this must be hindering the arrival of Domestic Tourists and limiting any sort of revival.

Car hire was unavailable at the Airport despite the huge numbers of rental vehicles parked outside the Airport, I booked ahead no problem.

The Ring Road is Torn up around the Island with Drains being installed at what seems crawling pace. The roads, and generally everything is reminder of having lived there during previous natural disasters.

Sadly Chaweng is barely suitable for Tourists anymore, Lamai is nice and has a strong local population and some businesses open make it pleasant despite many business closed.

In short it's a pricy trip, and you get what you get:(
