Thai driving video: Nutty clip makes national TV

Channel 7 gave air time to a clip of some particularly poor driving on a hill in Thailand.

Several drivers seemed to have forgotten that Thailand drives on the left.

The video from "Hear Khap Rat" showed dash cam footage from what was believed to be a truck trailer.

The driver was following another truck trailer that was going on the wrong side of the road in order to negotiate a bend on a hilly section.

Rather than waiting patiently a car tries to go round the bend inside the truck as a horn can be heard sounding.

This proves to be the wrong thing to do as another truck coming down the hill is forced to go on the wrong side of the road coming down.

The aftermath was recorded by the trucker who detached his dash cam for this purpose.

The post disparaged them as "buffaloes". Hear Khap Rot refers to "Water Monitors Behind the Wheel" - a Thai slur.

See it every day; Thai drivers have no patience and will always take what they think is the 'Route of least resistance'; just can't help themselves and when it ends in disaster it will never 'be their fault' !

"Hopeless" is the only word that comes to mind.

There used to be a youtube channel with daily uploads of the best worst accidents and near misses in Thailand.

The channel got taken down because it made Thailands roads and drivers look bad.

We all get to see the accident/death figures instead.

There is a saying: When in Rome do as the Romans do!   Well.......

I know this might sound crazy, but ive seen worse here lol

Whatever can be done, will be done is the best approach on the roads here, remember that and assume everyone is trying to kill you !

That's the best way to survive the lunacy that's on these roads.

One day when I'm not feeling as lazy as I usually am, I'm going to go stand by the don't-drive-your-motorcycle-on-the-sidewalk sign down the street here in Ladprao and videotape all the motorcycles driving down the sidewalk

Its the magic in the Tattoos and the amulets they wear, along with the Buddhist blessing the car received when it was new.  Have you ever wondered why all the Taxi Drivers have amulets, and statues in their vehicles.....blind faith....

Odd that the Russian videos are still there then. They're pretty scary too.

..it's just as if the Circus is moving to the next town.

Car driver certainly "going round the bend"!!

Cannot quite work out why that truck and trailer needed to go that wide. Bit excessive I think as the trailer should follow the truck with no problems.

Because truck driver had a very long load and can see fully around the corner so knows there is space and time to take a wide angle as he has such a long trailer to get around the corner. In that case why not play safe and take a wide arc when he can see there's no oncoming traffic.

The car driver undertaking on a corner is mental and the truck driver blasts his horn. Truck drivers driving was fine imv. Car driver was an idiot. fool

I wouldn't even pull that undertaking manoeuvre playing Grand Theft Auto on the PlayStation .. If brains were gunpowder the silver motor's driver couldn't blow their hat off ..

We can ????

It's not that old farangs think they can drive anywhere; but, we are adaptable.  You are much more likely to be in an accident if you drive like you were taught; and, don't adapt to the "Thai rules of driving" which there are none.

I've always maintained there is no such thing as lanes in Thailand.. just one strip of concrete and help yourself to what's available.

The photo and the video don't match . The car in the photo isn't undertaking  . It's being run off the road by a truck going in the opposite direction , cutting the corner .
