And that, as they say, is the rub. Even with a case of such blatant corruption as this, it will either be swamped with bureaucratic inertia, or used as an opportunity to steal even more money, Whichever route is taken, or perhaps even a combination, it will be simply another exercise in utterly blatant corruption. These people are utterly shameless. The motivation is always not how can we stop this from happening again, and bring the perpetrators to justice, but how can we ensure we get (or increase) our share.

I feel a move to an inactive position coming up!

There are always purchases by the authorities using taxpayers' money, where their purchase prices are more than questionable.

It's the sheer neck they have to ask 150k for a bit of yellow painted bent tubing and supermarket trolley wheels that I admire .. You'd be hard pressed keeping a straight face even sending the invoice in the post ..

Very elegantly put, and soooo true.

Anyone ask why EGAT needs vegetable carts in the first place?

Why? That's quite simple, pure greed and profit! They just can't help themselves! Now off to the temple and make some merit and Buddha will pardon any wrongdoing!

The minister said that he would set up a committee to investigate the matter which would take around two weeks.

Another committee; another fortnight of free lunches and travel expenses; a lot of hot air; photo ops, resulting, finally, in no action.

True. Just makes him the lesser of two evils.

Hmmm. 150k carts worth 2k.

Or getting your family owned government to "borrow" 2.2 trillion baht and want to spend it as they see fit with no scrutiny or accountability, no checks and balances.

Lesser of 2 evils - depends on if he'd gotten away with it.

That's no rug its a magic carpet????
