i actually get on well with my thai neigbour and his wife Lovely people. Couple of days ago they called me over to look at the latest grand kid Was so cute, I often share a beer with him or sit  down chat to them I really do like living in Thailand

Many Thais from different socio economic status in Thailand doing this giving away foods and CASH to the poor across the country in many disaster for centuries already. Why wait for farang foriegners to teach?. I mean I am appreciated and thaknful anyone foriengners or Thai who do this. But some farang  comments here are so ignorance and outdated. They think only farang can do this?

My wife's family are poor and I was always the one pushing her to make sure that they are looked after, with her one day telling me that it is a fine balancing act, e.g. they are proud, so we don't want to embarrass them or make them feel as if they are a burden to us, she went on and said, I know when they need and I will take care, thank you for your care for them.

 

We also have two old girls either side of us in their 90's, she also takes care of them when she knows it's time, and these old girls always come back a day or two later with bananas or some something from their gardens as if it's a pay back.

 

Neither of us expect a thank you, we just do it because we feel we are in a better position than them, a hell of a lot better position than them, and it makes me want to help as much as possible because I know they haven't lived as we have, let alone gone on a holiday or stayed at a nice hotel, but as the wife says, leave it to me, I take care, don't worry, that said, their are extended family members if you wanted to help, would take your left and right arms and expect on top of that, and if you didn't produce, be the first ones to bag you.

 

Good that your wife appreciates your support on behalf of that Thai family, keep giving ????

And the morons in government aka Rin tin Auntin shoukd be ashamed of their continual derogatory comments as they've done nothing to help the poor in Thailand.

Personally i've never seen or heard any such comment coming from a "Farang"...... Only from Mr Anutin.....  If you have evidence please post it......... I'm sure there's lots of Farangs that would be only too happy to give them a roasting.....  

As we grow older, and maturity comes along with experience, we see the reality of what is and accept the situation at face value. It doesnt matter if the government is to blame for their inadequate provision, what we have is a hungry person or family in front of us. For kind hearted people, be they non Thai nationals or not, the call to help prompted by compassion from within, is a wonderful human trait that is exhibited and to be given without reward or expectation.

 

As a medic, Ive seen the best and worst of humanity, and in these troubled times, it is heartwarming to see such compassion demonstrated. Most people contributing are not rich, yet they have more money than the poor in their region and feel the need to help.

 

Regardless whether or not the authorities do anything, the act in itself has sustained individuals and the future remembering of who helped who is in their knowledge. 

 

I thank all the unknown benefactors who gave from their hearts in money, time and effort........... for you are the true wealth of humanity. You didnt want recognition or accolades, just to help. 

 

So thank you. The needy thank you although perhaps culture and repression make it hard for them to say so.......... but they know.

Why aren't the media, opposition party asking the Govt. why are they not setting up food banks across the country. Where is all the money going? Why haven't the wealthy Govt. MP's such as Anutin not set up food banks to help the constituents that they are supposed to represent? 

 

The opposition parties have been earthly silent, period, since the CV19 travesty started.

It is wonderful to see people helping people. What a great job they have done and are and will I am sure continue to do. Farangs and Thais working together for the greater good to help their fellow Man. I hope that they keep it up as it is not over yet! 

 

But one also Hope's that the government and the immigration folks remember these actions and give us at least some resemblance of respect when we need help or that extension of stay... maybe be inviting or the removal of some of the hoops perhaps? I know. . I fear the line will be ... "Dream on".

I take my hat off to those who are helping.

I'm certain that those in office will issue these kind people with permanent residency, or scrap their 90 day reporting at the very least. Just as a token of their appreciation that is.

Quite importantly they have clarified beyond doubt who is considered resident and who is not with the initial travel bans before they closed the borders completely.

 

Oft repeated since in the media if you have been paying attention, phrases like "borders closed to non-resident foreigners" etc. 

 

If I was on an O or OA visa or similar I would be seriously considering what I am doing, likewise people on those and tourist visas that have invested here.

 

The warning signs are there, but few seem to want to pay attention to them.

I’ll rephrase that for you Yin beer bars sell beer... the ladies that work in the bars sell sex.... the ladies that have no other option to work and help send money to their families up north... ladies that you rich people don’t care about.... families up north that you rich people don’t care about.

The fact the media are being kind is an indication of just how desperate the country is. 

 

Soon as this virus crisis is over, the nation will be back to anti Westerner. How quickly Westerners forget. 

When times are bad a lot of people have learned to pitch in and help out, and this is certainly something I have grown up with when I was in Australia. Mostly community based in during bushfires, floods droughts etc.

 

So whilst I have donated to the cause we are doing our best to look after the people in our community we know of who are struggling, who are mostly the day laborers and people who normally sell at markets. For example call up the laborers and get them to come around and trim the hedge a couple of weeks early or something, get them to take the recyclables as well which they will cash in. The wife makes up care packs of 5kg of rice, cooking oil, tinned fish, noodles and a couple of dozen eggs to go with the baht for doing the hedge. The eggs come from the lady across the road who normally sells at a market. 

 

The guys doing the bit of work are happy for the cash, and the care pack is a bonus, the lady who sells the eggs is happy to sell some eggs. Everyone knows what is going on, but it is not exactly charity and all are happy.

 

The wife has a shopping trip planned for tomorrow, so I expect to see as extras 5x5kg sacks of rice, tinned fish, cooking oil, noodles and fish sauce. Will not break the bank and I will probably see one of the groups looking for donations who I will support as well.

 

So by all means support the people doing the distribution of food, but maybe look close to home as well to see if there is someone else who needs a bit of support.

Get job same 99% of north people. Most Issan/North people not work that. 

Most factory/office/farm/construction/transport/retail/food/tourism/self employ worker send money to the families same.
