Stay until 31 july: difference between Stamp on arrivel, TR30 and border pass

Featured Replies

Hello,

I would have a question regarding the conditions to stay in thiland until 31th of july.

I am no sure about my situation (my visa).

Let me tell you,

Until february i was under non immigrant visa O.

My personal situation required me to go back to europe but need to stay a bit more in Thailand for my childrens.

So, in february, i've been in Cambodia and i had a stamp on arrival with 30 days which allowed me to stay here in Thailand until 25 march 2020. i guess that it is a "TR30",

So, my stamp on arrival is a "TR30" or a "Border pass" ?

On the 20th of march i've been to immigration, paid 1900 thb and i had 30 days more until 24 april 2020.

I read today that Thai immigration allow certain type of visa to stay until 31th of july 2020 but for people with "border pass" it is wrote that whane the checkpoints will open again, you'll have 7 days to leave Thailand. So, if they open checkpoint on the 1st of june, i will have 7 days to leave to leave the country.

So, in order to avoid mistake, is somebody can tell me if my stamp on arrival is a "border pass" or if it is considerer as a visa or TR30 which will allow me to stay until 31st of july 2020?

Many thanks to all and be safe.

You can stay until July 31st.

The border pass mentioned is only for those from neighboring countries. You do not have one.

Thank you very much for your answer ubonjoe.
It is a good news because my old father which is leaving in family with us (with a non AO) is worry to go back now.

So, the best for us is that i could stay a bit more in order to see how the crisis of the virus will be managed and when we can go back more safely.

So, as you told, if i can stay until the 31st of july, we will have the required perspective and hopefuly the situation will be better for my father.

So, just to finish and if you can answer me, is my "Stamp on arrival" is a "TR30" ?

Thank you and keep safe.

It is a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Yes you are.

Also though irrelevant to the overwhelming majority who read TV, a border pass holder must leave within 7 days of the borders being opened. This may well be a different date to July 31st

It could be much sooner if the neighboring countries open their borders to all of their citizens. I would guess many have left already for Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

Agreed, though my guess is that opening to other nationalities may well not happen at the same time.

Hopefully if Laos, Cambodia and Myanamar open their borders with Thailand, it will be reciprocal.

hi ubonjoe and hi to all,

I come back to you because i've read an article on an online french serious newspaper called "Le petit journal de Bangkok" which seems not aligned on your opinion. Let me tell you what they said (translated):

"Tourists benefiting from a visa exemption are allowed to remain in the territory until the border posts are reopened. Once these are opened, they will have to leave the country within seven days."

So, you told me that:

Is it the same thing or not?

And if yes, who is right? (You or the newspaper because in one case i have to leave on the 31th of july in the other i will have to leave 7 days after checkpoints reopened!)

My feeling is that i tend to believe you more than the journalist who wrote the article because you know visa rules since a lot of years and talk about it everyday. (My opinion is that the journalist is confused between visa exemption and border pass. I hope i am right and you too)

So if you can confirm or explain, it would be very nice.

Many thanks to you and to all.

This from the latest infographic posted on the immigration website. You have a" permitted period of stay".
