The authorities at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok said that domestic service will be expanded from Friday, May 1st.

Air Asia and Lion Air will be offering flights to and from the airport to destinations throughout Thailand.

But the airport has warned your temperature must be 37.5 degrees or under to fly and you must wear a mask.

There is an 11 hour window to fly.

Flying Officer Samphan said that recently Nok Air had been offering 10 return flights a day from the airport catering to about 1,000 passengers.

From Friday Nok Air will expand their service to 24 flights and Air Asia will offer 18 and Lion will have four return trips.

This will mean 46 return trips or 92 legs.

About 3,000 to 4,000 people are expected to fly meaning that planes would only have around 30 to 40 passengers each.

Samphan said that there will be two thermoscanners at two entrances to the airport, passengers will have to be 37.5C to fly and social distancing measures will be in operation from check-in to the gate.

Masks must be worn by everybody.

Taxis and retailers at the airport have been asked to return as the airport slowly gets back to something like normal.

Thai Rath said that Air Asia will offer return trips to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchasima, Nakhon Phanom, Roi-Et, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Hat Yai and Surat Thani. They will also have the Chiang Mai to Hat Yai route.

Lion Air will offer services to Chiang Mai, Ubon, Khon Kaen and the south.

Flights from Don Mueang will commence at 7 am and the last flight will return there at 6 pm so that curfew measures are not compromised.

So DMK has been open for Nok Air flights but none of the other airlines?

And this is where it could all start to go wrong.   In the North we have had no new cases for weeks and once Flights resume from Bangkok and the South they could bring the Virus North with them.  Keep the Airports closed for another month.

Individual provinces have done their best to get infection numbers down, now the airlines are hell bent on transporting passengers from one province to another, yet via road you're vetted for essential movements only?

I'm not sure why this is being allowed.
