Vertigo Doctor Recommendation

Featured Replies

I woke up today with extreme vertigo when I sit up. I suspect an inner ear infection as I've been swimming a lot and recently started using earbuds with a waterproof MP3 while swimming but maybe it's unrelated.

Can anyone recommend a specific doctor they have had a good experience with in Bangkok?

I did see that Bangkok Hospital has a vertigo clinic.

Thanks.

I get it very often too... I do as stated above, the Epley manoeuvre, but considering getting checked out as it has been going on for 4 days straight now.

Stress might be a trigger ? I normally get it after flying, so pressure related too.

In bangkok I go to the eye ear nose and throat hospital in pinklao. They sorted me much better than my normal hospital.

Is it just when you first sit up or does it persist?

If it is just for a few minutes when sitting up it may be blood pressure related rather than inner ear problem.

Thanks.  It is primarily when I sit up but also occasionally when I turn from side to side in bed.  I did check my blood pressure which is a bit high as usual, about 130-140/90,  Seems a bit better today but I took some diphenhydramine last night and maybe that helped.  Yesterday morning the room was spinning every time I stood up and I could not even walk for the first few hours.  Never had a problem like this before.

If you took your BP while dizzy and it was 130-140/90 then this is not due to BP )usually BP related dizziness is due to sudden drop in BP when you stand, and will resolve in minutes not hours0.

I saw Dr. Saowaros yesterday and she diagnosed benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.  I went back today and she did the Epley maneuver.  Hopefully it will help.  She seemed quite confident and I appreciated her years of experience.  The charges at Bumrungrad were a bit stunning at about 3000 for the initial consultation and 5000 for the Epley.  Oh well, I'm not upset about paying for quality, just surprised.
