Italian man found dead in Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A 64-year-old Italian man was found dead late Saturday in this tourist town, police said.

The body of Marco Muzzioli was found in a house where he lived with his Thai wife at some 20 minutes past midnight.

His Italian friend, Avorivo Dante, 65, went to see him but found that he was lying face down.

Dante told police that Muzzioli called him three days ago, asking him to come by to have a drink.

Nirand Gongthong, 35, a Thai friend of Muzzioli, told police that his Thai wife, was away to visit her family in Phitsanulok and was scheduled to return on Thursday.

Police said Muzzioli apparently fell down and was accidentally killed.

Body of Italian Found in Rented House

An Italian man died mysteriously in his rented town house and it took 5 days before someone discovered his body.

At 9.00pm on 14th April the Pattaya police were informed by the deceased man’s friend Mr. Gafeeo, aged 64, from Italy, of discovering the body of his neighbour in the house located in South Pattaya Soi 10.

The police and rescuers found the body of Italian, Mr. Marco Muzzioliand, aged 65, on the floor in the town house. The team inspected the body and stated that he must have died at least 5 days already. There were no signs of a fight or disturbance and the belongings were untouched.

Mr. Gafeeo stated that he is a neighbour. Usually Mr. Muzzioliand resides here at the townhouse with his wife Miss Da, aged 34, but his wife went home to visit her family during the Songkran festival so he was at home alone.

Normally, Mr. Muzzioliand would come out to say hello to other neighbours but these past few days he hadn’t been seen. Therefore, on the 14th, Mr. Gafeeo entered the house, as he smelled something bad, only to find the man dead on the floor.

The police sent the body to the Police Forensic Laboratory to find the true cause of death and informed the Italian embassy.

On Saturday Night, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prichar from Pattaya Police Station was called to house number 53/9 in Soi 10 off the South Pattaya Road to deal with a foreign fatality at the location.

Rescue workers also attended the incident and were confronted with the badly decomposed body of the house occupant; Mr. Marco Muzzioli aged 64 from Italy.

The body was discovered by the front door of the house and Police estimate the body had remained undiscovered for at least 5 days. The gruesome discovery was made by a friend of the deceased, Mr. Avorivo Dante aged 65.

He explained that his wife had gone to visit her family over the Songkran Festival Period and was due to return this coming Thursday and three days before the discovery Mr. Dante had attempted to contact the deceased to ask him if he wanted to go out for a drink, without success.

The Italian Embassy have been informed and Police are waiting for the results of a post mortem examination before they close the case, however they suspect either natural causes or an accident inside the house is to blame for the death and in no way suspect any foul play.
