Police have launched an investigation after a German man was found dead at a house in Prachinburi on Wednesday morning.

The man, 59, had suffered a single stab wound to the chest.

The man’s body was discovered by his ex-wife, who he has was still in regular contact with. The pair have a 19 year old daughter together.

The man’s ex-wife told reporters that she went to the house to meet him she discovered his body on his bed. A bloodied knife was found nearby.

The man’s body has been sent for autopsy to establish an official cause of death. Police say they will launch a murder investigation.

Thairath reported the man he lived in Thailand for 10 years and worked as an English teacher at a local language school.

1) Is there any evidence that the house was ransacked?

2) Signs of a struggle on the victims body?

The only thing we have to go on was he was found in bed.  How did the "thief" enter unheard?  Maybe the victim invited the "thief" in?  Does his ex have an alibi?

Just spitballing...

Case solved

Well, it’s not that simple. He could have died from an injury to one of the lungs, the heart, nicked or severed artery or a combination of  the previously mentioned possible injuries. And yes, it’s nitpicking, but when it comes to murder they wanna know exactly what the cause of death was.

Yeah, strange case - single stab to the chest,  knife left behind, guy found on his bed; guess there might be some fingerprint evidence.

Looking at the place he lived (one room Thai rental) and his occupation (unemployed teacher), I wouldn't think he was worth robbing.

More likely the ex-wife who 'found' the body, or a 'girlfriend'.

What does that have to do with this man's death? Bit off topic, wouldn't you say?

A stab at establishing a motive for this crime I think  !

This on another forum

Mrs Sriwan also told police that although they had parted ways, she continued to visit him regularly. She said he called her on Tuesday, saying his mother had just sent him 40,000 baht from Germany, and asking her to go with him to pick it up.

When she arrived on Wednesday morning, she said, she discovered his body.

Perhaps it is suicide. The BiB will have it correctly sorted shortly.

Very nice dogs, but they are expensive to keep and also need a large house. A German teaching in some obscure school in some dusty small town may not have been able to afford such luxuries.

My Thai wife and I agree that the Police will NOT investigate. They will not even make an Autopsie, too expensive. A Doctor will just confirm the death. First suspect would be the ex wife who said she discovered the body, second suspect the current wife. But the Police will not even take fingerprints on the knive. There was also a murdered German once here in Ban Phe, shot in the head. No investigation was done, case closed

I had feeling that I might end up like him if I decided to live with someone in Chiang Mai.

Scary.

when this happens will they look at the ex wife.s family.i imagine a unsolved murder with no suspect

Odd was on his bed and knife near . Think sounds like he had enough more than an attack or burglary gone wrong.

I actually have known some retired guys who teach here having very comfortable pensions, guys teaching who have money and so forth just in order to stay. Your statement is probably not justified.

Yeah but you look at it one way and a Thai hungry for money or drugs will look at it totally in a 360 degree way.

Huh? Any money that they could get while assuming foreigners are walking wallets. Even a few thousand is a win win for them.
