Pattaya blocks all access to beaches to avoid second wave

So they want the tourist to return to Pattaya, pay to stay in their hotels, eat the food @ the restaurants, may we assume people can travel down walking street as well...? But stay off the coastal beaches, which most that don't know the trash that gets dumped daily into the waters, from the restaurants they most likely just ate at, pollutes the shore so badly that it's usually not safe to swim in. Yet those visiting are told to stay away to prevent a second wave, not really for their own protection, but more so Pattaya doesn't get locked down again, and lose more revenue due to the virus from the very country that Thailand is now taking off the hot spot list, so they are welcome back to the majestic, amazing Thailand with open arms. Yes if this is all correct, than it makes perfect sense to avoid this region, for our own protection, clearly Thailand is showing us once again, it's not about enjoying our travels, i.e. holiday, it's about spending the money in our pockets, which they forget, after not working for ex amount of weeks, we not have much left in those pockets anyway. It's all going to take time, a lot of time to get back on track for enticing tourist into that region, as greed is still very much alive and well...cheers happy tourist, stay safe, and hope you stay in where you are welcome.

Say it isn't so ! Second wave of attacks ? We're still waiting for the first one but sincerely doubt it will attack from the sea....I believe it would be from the airports and bus stations.....quick, move the barricades ! All hands on deck, dive the boat ! Where's the color chart ?

There must be something in the sea water in both Ohuket and Pattaya, cause most beaches in Thailand are open.

One official goes to the beach at 7 AM every morning, there he waits for the second wave. Then he looks if it did bring more cases.

At 9 AM he is back in the office to report to his boss.

Ok how bout this , start a rumor  (same as the truth here) that Covid has begun coming on to the beaches so everyone ( the police and volunteers)  grab a stick and run to the beach and start swinging your , stick, bat or whatever (pounding sand won't work it's an airborne pathogen) to kill the virus. (a flaming stick or baton is  preferred) or possibly a flamethrower!  Anyway getting really bored. I'm going to the beach !

Went to a restaurant last night, painful experience in general as the government restrictions are designed to suck the fun out of everything. Trying to hold hands and grope each other under the table from 1 meter is a challenge ...we finally scooted our chairs together when they weren't looking, (really made me feel young again)...they can't serve alcohol but I brought a bottle of wine. Should have seen the look on everyone's face when my gf pulled that out of her bag, Priceless ! The rule only says that they can't serve it ...

How can the virus differentiate between sand and rice?  OK to eat together in enclosed premises; not OK to walk on the wide-open beach with plentiful ozone.

 

I thought Pattaya renewed the sand every three or four months anyway?

I live in Jomtien. In order to block access, does this mean road blocks at entry points to beach road? Will baht buses, delivery, local residents be allowed through? Does anyone in authority ever think these decisions through (kidding, we know the answer).

How about using the cops to patrol the beaches? I know "enforcement of choice" by cops is roadblocks. Heaven forbid they should have to physically move and do what is called "patrols" or "walking a beat".

A few days back I was walking home along beach road. Passed 4 "lifeguards" near building Soi 7: no masks, no social distancing, doing usual smart phone surfing. Took risk, raised spread arms and said "Song met" (2 meters)... no response

Down the road ran into 2 cops chatting with 2 lifeguards. I engaged in friendly warm up conversation, then got to point: the 4 lifeguards breaking rules. Brought up rules, idea that lifeguards should be role models, mention the Frenchman fined 50k (way to make some $$$?), etc etc. Snowballs chance in hell getting them to do anything.

 Maybe deputize some of the out of work to go up and down beach fining violators? Maybe umbrella vendors? Couple hundred baht should be enough to get the message across and spread rather than absurd 100k fine that isn't enforced.

Go to the northern part of Naklua on Sunday daytime.

You will see hundreds of Thais in and beside the sea.

But it is only the dirty farangs that never showers that spread the infection so no problems. ,-)

Yesterday afternoon they were levelling/raking the sand making it look pristine in readiness for the invasion of our Chinese "friends" at the end of the month

I can only think of one reason for this nonsense ban on beaches, they can't stand the idea of foreigners getting any sort of enjoyment out of this misery and that goes for the alcohol ban also

 

compared to this blows the whole argument out of the water - it doesn't make sense
