According to your experience,

sending a box from Italy to Thailand , weight about 20Kg, of used used clothes and shoes, as GIFT,
what value is better to declare as TOTAL VALUE.

Thanks

Depends on how you send it.

If you use courier service like DHL, forget about value, as they will value it by themselves, and you can be assured that there will be import duties.

Send it by regular post and value it less than 1500 Baht, and it will sail through without any questions asked.

That said, i have sent small electronics by DHL to 2 Asian countries in the past week, because normal post will take ages, and no questions were asked to the recipients.

Try that to Thailand LOL

Clothes and shoes seem to be a magnet for silly duties, 20% of CIF (and customs will set their own value if they don't think yours is reasonable) then 7% VAT on top of course and even by regular mail a 20kg package will attract attention.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother shipping them, the recipient will likely be lumbered with a bill well in excess of the actual value.

You have total value = goods as you value it.

Then you have value as arrived at customs = your value + insurance + Cost of shipping.

This is known as CIF , then you add % import duty then add VAT  if you use a courier type service there may also be a "processing" or admin fee added.
