Senedd roundup: English MP calls for Welsh Parliament to be abolished – so he can go to the beach

"An English Conservative MP has called for the Welsh Parliament to be abolished, so that he can go to the beach.

Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury, said that the different coronavirus restrictions in Wales, which bar people from travelling away from their local area, meant that English people couldn’t visit their closest beach."

For those still struggling with the concept of common sense, this should be invaluable.

I will define the meaning of 'stay alert' later. ????????

Why not define it now? Trying to find out?

Man staying alert for 0.125 micron-sized threat

Quote

A MAN is watching out for objects 400 times smaller than can be seen with the naked eye so as not to catch coronavirus.

Tom Logan was warned to stay alert for COVID-19, the vanishingly tiny virion recognisable only by specialists using powerful electron microscopes, and is wheeling around suddenly in case it is sneaking up behind him.

Holding a jeweller’s loupe and a miniscule butterfly net, he said: “The Government advice to stay alert is absolutely spot on. That’s why I’m keeping my eyes peeled for this microscopic genome at all time

Credit where credit is due - I was impressed with Rishi Sunak's management of the initial financial response to the epidemic, and I applaud his announcement this afternoon of a continuation at the same level for another 4 months. There still needs to be ongoing refinements to help those who have slipped between the cracks, and also to prevent foreign based mega corps sponging off UK taxpayers while continuing to enrich their shareholders, but he seems to be on top of that. He has been the one real sign of competence and level-headedness in all this mess.

Of course you don't, you just ejaculate prematurely.

For the avoidance of doubt, was your intention that I should feel amused, titillated, offended or something else by your post?

Well, in that case I only have my own sensibilities to rely upon, and as I cannot imagine any decent, upright person wading into a thread and insulting someone with whom they have never had any previous communication, I must give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were not insulting me (because why would anyone other than an inarticulate coward throw out insults at passing strangers?) and assume it was a sophisticated and topical but well-intentioned josh that went over my head.

LMFAO, get you.

I used to think Boris had common sense under the "silly man" act, but seems he's just as IMO demented stupid as all the other politicians demanding the continuation of economic destruction.

I take it you are being sarcastic.

In fact being able to go to the beach, go shopping, go to a restaurant is sanity, and those that are forcing us ALL to lockdown ( instead of the actually vulnerable ) are, IMO economic vandals that are destroying uncountable lives. Sadly, it's unlikely they will ever be brought to justice for the devastation they are wreaking on all of us and future generations.

I take it the guy is mocking the government. If so, right on!

I appreciate the issues around lockddown and I recognise the many problems that both continuing and relaxing the lockdown will throw up, but the reason so many are getting angry with this MP is less to do with the lockdown per se, but that he is publicly advocating the abolition of the devolved government in Wales because people from England cannot go to the beach in Wales, as he seems to think is their right. Utterly tone deaf and shockingly arrogant of the man - I hope that he got a swift dressing down from his whips.

Coronavirus: Trial begins to see if dogs can 'sniff out' virus

A UK trial to see whether specialist medical sniffer dogs can detect coronavirus in humans is set to begin.

The dogs are already trained to detect odours of certain cancers, malaria and Parkinson's disease by the charity Medical Detection Dogs.

The first phase of the trial will be led by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, along with the charity and Durham University.

It has been backed with £500,000 of government funding.

Innovation minister Lord Bethell said he hoped the dogs could provide "speedy results" as part of the government's wider testing strategy.
