If that amount of water is from one downpour, no drainage would cope with that.....

I thought the endless road works had fixed the drains.

  • " expected to be able to drain and prevent Pattaya from being affected by rain and causing no floods in Pattaya. " As much chance of that happening as Prayut making Thaksin Deputy Prime Minister.

  • Every  year.

And non of the Rain would have found its way into the much depleted Reservoirs.

Pathetic

We're parched for water--why would some rain be a 'misery'?  I welcome the rain.

I am a little further north, had about 30 minutes of rain but nothing like Pattaya obviously.

Im at cosy beach..we had about 3 minutes of light rain.

Flooding widespread as rain lashes resort.

This is a reoccurring problem Why is this News?

Flooding in Pattaya is normal. The rain just washes away the sins.

Old saying ... Close to sin comes the truth

Pattaya is exhausted amusement park

In Pattaya I dont think there are any. Doesn't it go straight out to sea?

Just as well they are not letting people go out swimming.

Pollution and waste in the water is bad enough without adding the virus.????

3 reasons why the "wealthy" won't be taking up MR CP's offer anytime soon.

Ahh that's where the very large black cloud that passed by Jomtien yesterday  got to.

Yep, scattered showers...

BUT the sand stayed untouched on the beach?  This won't please the mayor's in-laws who have a contract for renewing it every four months.

Last week week someone posted a Weather Radar snapshot of our area. Hellfire Brimstone the lot, went outside and our Dogs were not in the Garage thus confirming Experts Wrong Again.    Dogs.1. Radar.0.

There's less money to be made in fixing the problem properly the first time.

And. Tonnes more cash to be made for a never ending and unfixable (in Thailand) issue.

It depends - if it contains untreated sewerage then potentially yes, as the virus can be found in faeces but as the CDC info page on this says:

Researchers do not know whether this virus can cause disease if a person is exposed to untreated wastewater or sewerage systems.

There is no evidence to date that this has occurred. At this time, the risk of transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19 through properly designed and maintained sewerage systems is thought to be low.

Also, despite the fact that the virus had been found in faeces, there's also no evidence of any cases contracted via fecal matter yet (as far as I'm aware).

There was an infamous case where SARS was apparently spread in an apartment building in Hong Kong via wastewater but that involved a faulty plumbing system that was causing untreated sewage from one floor to be "aerosolised" in an apartment on a floor below and getting into the air - not from the contaminated water itself.

Never ending indeed.  It seems that whereas in the west, when contracts are outsourced they contain clauses to fix/repair/replace any faults or defects at the contractors expense.  As Creasy says, there is no such thing here and the contractors deliberately do a shoddy job, knowing they will be called back to fix whatever, and get paid again!

The drains just about everywhere in or around Pattaya are constantly being upgraded - it looks good at the time but even the 1 metre sectional type just can't cope with the volume when we get a massive downpour.

It looks like a large section of Soi Siam country Club (Pornprapanimit) is next for the treatment - there are hundreds of 1 metre sections piled up alongside the road between the Chicken crossroads and Maprachan reservoir (or the Serengeti as it is now known locally).

Must be photoshopped, water is filthy after heavy rain

Either that, or the bars along Beach Road have emptied their stockpiled Songkran Prickly Heat Powder to sanitise the road.  I guess that it might also act as a Covid-19 repellant.  If Trump fell for the Domestos remedy, I'm sure Snake Brand could make a killing in the US.  Try this Donald, rub a handful of this stuff around your meat and two veg after a shower, and you would forget Covid-19 for a little while at least.

FLOODING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in PATTAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, what a surprise. :cheesy:

I've never seen water that colour anywhere. Note to editors- change photoshop worker to one that isn't colourblind.

I was wondering if maybe that was near the end of the "flooding" as it didn't appear to be raining anymore.

Perhaps, by the time the photo was taken, all the muck and garbage was gone ?
Although all the water in Thailand seems to be dirty all the time, monsoon or no monsoon.

I was shocked when I was in Pai last December and the river running through there was clear.

Nice find. That link has a whack of before/after photos showing pics with stuff photo-shopped into them.

Looks like this was the original pic:                                                                         and this is the "after" pic
