Covid-19: Keep the "dangerous" pubs and bars shut say the majority of Thais in poll

Silly to compare everything to the markets and the. BTS

People need to eat and shutting the BTS would be à catastrophe besides the latest pics clearly show an X every second seat and a drastic reduction in commuter traffic to 250 per train

People go to bars to get drunk.

Of the 3 examples above which ones are a necessity? If were going to compare  everything to the markets may as well open everything up and get on with it

Were they also asked about going on crowded trains and buses, and fighting their way between other shoppers at the fresh meat counter in supermarkets? Or is it only in pubs that being in close proximity with others is considered dangerous?

Thai logic, you wear a mask on crowded trains.

Some 78.87% chose "health over freedom" when it came to bars, pubs, clubs and discos.

A brilliant quote to feed the conspiracy theorists amongst us. I absolutely do not believe this poll, there is no way nearly 80% of people said open everything else but keep bars pubs, clubs and discos closed.

How can you prove your statement?

Whenever there is a poll held we are never told anything at all about it other than the 'result'. Details of the findings are never published, nor do we know whether it was 'sponsored' by anyone with a vested interest in the result. The way way to conduct a poll is to personally ask the people you know.

It's the validation they need for cleaning up society, just one poll is enough and if they do open again, it won't be worth the red tape visiting them.

Before you believe the numbers in an opinion poll, it is very important poll that you look at the way the questions were phrased for the poll. Otherwise good pollsters can give you whatever results you'd like by manipulating the questions. Sir Humphrey Appleby demonstrates this point most aptly to Bernard in Yes Prime Minister ...

The PM has just gotten the results of an opinion poll. It says that 67% people would be in favor of reintroducing conscription. Sir Humphrey asks Bernard to get another opinion poll done in which the results are the opposite. Bernard can't understand how people can be both for and against conscription. So, Sir Humphrey demonstrates by quizzing him...

"Mr. Woolley, are you worried about the rise in crime among teenagers?"
"Yes"
"Do you think there is lack of discipline and vigorous training in our Comprehensive Schools?"
"Yes"
"Do you think young people welcome some structure and leadership in their lives?"
"Yes"
"Do they respond to a challenge?"
"Yes"
"Might you be in favour of reintroducing National Service?"
"Yes"

Now onto Survey 2

"Mr. Woolley are you worried about the danger of war?"
"Yes"
"Are you unhappy about the growth of armaments?"
"Yes"
"Do you think there's a danger in giving young people guns and teaching them how to kill?"
"Yes"
"Do you think its wrong to force people to take up arms against their will?"
"Yes"
"Would you oppose the reintroduction of National Service?"
"Yes"

So.... what were the leading questions in this poll?    Would love to hear the top 5!

Keep 'em closed. What good do they do for society? Farang's go out and get <deleted> out of the minds in bars, then drive home drunk; it seems to be their only joy in life. Perhaps permanently closing the damned bars would help them find other things to do. Why couldn't you socialise on a coffee bar for example during the day?

Well Pedro, you wouldn't be saying that if we had Taco Bell joints here ordered closed..:cowboy:

Army fake poll.  They will starve bar owners broke in Pattaya. They want a casino to bring Chinese. They don't care about the poor. This poll is fake. This is there glory moment to cripple Thailand and sell to China. How fitting give control to the destroyers disgusting.

They want it like it was before tourism, just for themselves and Thai, no sleaze, no tourists, elite at the top, peasants below. Line up to go into a shop, total control.

Bar owners would be happy as pigs in <deleted> if their bars had 1/100 th people I saw in the malls when they opened again. Farang beer bars are going to be quiet until at least November 2021, Thai disco perhaps stay closed all that glass sharing

Pretty small poll percentage wise given the population. I’m sure if you looked at the demographics it wouldn’t include a whole bunch of people from the entertainment areas. Just a guess.

Hardly a large poll and one wonders how representative the selection was, then there's the loaded phrasing of the question which posses it as an either or, when of course it isn't. Seems they got the answers they were fishing for.

It's all in the framing,  if asked the right way you will get 4th he desired responses

The sample size is ludicrous. That is not to say that the views of these 1,000 + people should not be considered but how about a more elaborate poll with all issues tabled. Freedom vs Health implies you cannot have both when it comes to Pubs, bars and drinking venues. Is there any proof that pubs are any more toxic than virus labs?  Everything in moderation including junk food and politics.

AFAIK coffee bars don't have bar girls. I've never heard of a lady coffee.
