I understand that ultimately no one needs a Visa extension right now until 31st of July. As I have a one year non o multiple entry I would like to know for sure this has no effect on this Visa status? And it truly means I don't have to do anything until then? It feels weird after 30 odd years of compliance.  ????

if the visa is still valid when the borders reopen, then do a border run for a fresh 90 day stamp, will need to do before 31st July unless the auto covid 19 regs are extended, there will be a rush when the auto covid 19 regs do end, so go before.

The Visa validity of your 1-year MultipleEntry Non Imm O Visa has no bearing with the Amnesty till 31 July.  That Visa validity is only of relevance when you enter the country.  When you entered last time with that valid Visa you were stamped in with a 90-day permission to stay.  At the end of that 90-day permission to stay you were expected to leave the country (or apply for an extension of stay at a local IO).

With the borders closed you cannot now leave the country, and hence your permission to stay is automatically prolonged till 31 July, without any overstay or re-entry ban repercussions.

I must ask you, no matter what the others write here. You say you have a "one year non o multiple entry VISA", you are talking about extensions...... and you are talking about 30 odd years here in Thailand...

Are we actually talking about 1 year extension of stay based on something???? IF you are, then what I understand.....  you need to do your annual extension just as usual.. You are not being effected by the amnesti....

glegolo

Yep getting mine done today. Nothing about 1 year extensions mentioned in the amnesty

Australian airlines will not start flights from Bangkok to Melbourne until August as per their advertised schedule, with Jetstar's first flight on August 1st. That's if etc etc.

I already have a paid for one 30 day extension which theoretically ended May 19. If there is no further visa extension granted after July 31 I guess I pay 500 baht per day till we can get on a plane to Aus?

It looks as though Singapore airlines, Philippine airlines and AirAsia may well be flying before the end of July so you have options to leave. I recently heard of a couple of Aussies who flew out about 3 Or 4 weeks ago. So while you probably cannot get a cheap flight you can fly now using Qatar Airways they are still flying a scheduled service.

you should contact the Australian embassy as they will have the most up to date information they may well be coordinating passengers with flights, other embassies are doing that.

all of this is assuming you are Australian citizens.

I would suggest that Oz embassy would be useless. Have a track record.

As for flights to Oz, Jetstar are playing the rebook game as are many carriers. Allow booking then cancel.

Au states still have state border controls.

Today idiot Qld leader stated borders closed "indefinitely". Adding that Sept would be good guess. WA state still has closed borders along with SA. That is relating to internal Au travel.

Any Australian returning to Oz any time soon will require quarantine.

What that means is flights even if possible would be limited.

Jetstar fly eg BKK to gold coast.

That almost certainly not available. Maybe flight BKK to Sydney/Melbourne is.

Great then how do you get into closed states.

There will not be end to amnesty untill borders are open. If that does not occur prior to July 31 then amnesty will be extended as per previously.

When borders are opened you can exit Thailand via border and re-enter visa exempt or obtain visa at consulate.

Either way eventually flights to home country will become more flexible.

Do not even consider overstay.

https://thailand.embassy.gov.au/They (Aus embassy) at least have updated information.

you can fly to Australia now, as I mentioned, on Qatar Airways.

not cheap but flying.

There is a mandatory 14 day quarantine in the city of arrival. Many states are requiring a further 14 day quarantine on arrival from another state. The only closed state seems to be Western Australia

and

You can apply for an exemption to enter WA by applying for a G2G PASS.

So, Yes you can get back to Australia now though it will be At least 14 days and may take over 28 days to be free to travel in your home state.

Do you have to leave now? No

Will you have to leave before the 31st of July? Maybe not as the current extension of stay could easily be extended again, and even so there will be more information about when and how people need to/can leave.

Asking now about that is not going to get an answer, try again in 60 days if you haven’t already seen the answers you need.

If a persons visa is valid until October, but that person left in April expecting to get back but was stranded overseas due to Covis-19 it means that he has lost 6 months of the visa which he bought. Why then cannot the thai govt credit the lost 6 months if the person enters as soon as possible after Covis-19.

My flight on 3rd was cancelled so i had to fly with QATAR as that was all that was available. It was very expensive as i had to fly Bangkok-Doha ( 7  hrs) have a 12 hr wait then fly Doha - Brisbane (14 hrs). Now i am having a hell of a struggle trying to get a credit for the 2 flights with Air Asia which were cancelled.

Visas are cheap, assuming of course that you weren't stupid and used an agency instead of doing it yourself. That said, I think the immigration people have enough difficulties doing the rules as they stand and adding complexities like this would exceed their capabilities.

I never paid an agent, so all of my applications (Non-O-90 day, and several Non-O 1-year) - which met every documented requirement - were denied for various "undocumented requirement" reasons.

It's not about the complexity - would be simple to add time-lost to visa-entries.  But there is no chance they would be inclined to do this.
