Visa Extension

Featured Replies

Hello!

Im looking to extend my visa by another 30 days at the immigration office here in Ko Samui. Looking online, I read its 1,900 baht and possible to do. However, someone told me that they now only do 7 day extensions for the same money, and will not do 30 day extensions, does anyone know if this is true? My visa runs out on the 20th, so I can only do that or a lovely visa run to Myanmar which'll take 12hours!

Thanks very much,

Ali

If you have a proper Visa it can be extended for 30 days

If you have a Visa exempt stamp I think it is 7 days only.

Can always go to Malaysia border.

Careful LB..

My buddy just took a non imm B 90 day stay to Phuket town immigration.. They insisted on only a 7 day extension claiming 'new rules' and would not issue a 30 day.

I was to find out how this played in Patong immigration this morning as my mother must either visa run or get a 30 day extension on her non imm O but despite a notice in the window saying "open Tuesday 10:30" when they didnt open a phone call got the answer... No 'maybe open this afternoon" !! The professionalism !!!

Will report either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

The only visa entry that receives a 30 day extension of stay is a tourist visa issued by a Consulate. All others are 7 days max (unless we include the one year types and the 60 day one time provision for family visit).

When you include the 'one year types' do you mean non imm O or non imm B visits that need to visa run every 90 days ??

I had understood that these were an automatic 30 extension the same as a TV.. I was quite shocked and a little doubtful about my buddies 7 day extension.

There used to be a local set value of between about 7 and 15 days for such extensions and now all issue 7 days max. If you meet the requirements for one year extension of stay then you can extend for one year - but without meeting those conditions it is 7 days now (with the current one time exception of the 60 day family visit extension).

If you are asking about extension of one year extensions of stay then yes it can be a temp 30 day extension but the question is for 90 day entry as I read it.

Thanks.. another miss understanding of mine..

hi guys.. i had a 15 day on arrival visa and then i got it extended for 7 days. is it possible to extend it once again for 60 days showing my marriage certificate, wife ID + home registration. or do i have to go out and come back to do this?

is it possible to go out from hatyai to malay and back on next day to thailand to get another 15 day tourist visa on arrival?

You should be able to obtain a 60 day extension of stay one time but if they will provide after a previous extension of stay, or even if they know about the rule, is the question. I would go with wife and documentation requested, and copy of police order 606, and ask.

Just a followup.. Now the 'maybe open afternoon' is definately open tomorrow..

Once more sterling service !!!

Lopburi..thanks for the reply. i can bring my wife with me no problem. but my doubt is since i have extended the tourist visa one time will they extend again my visa for 60 days? even if i show all the necessary documents to prove that i am married to a thai?

me and my wife are in bangkok right now..

Edited by HassanMuneer

Do it in Bangkok as they are more likely to be aware of the provision. I don't know if they will balk about the previous extension or not but only one real way to know. You could also call 1111 and ask for immigration but fear there might be miscommunication without view of your passport and extension in person.

lopburi3: thanks a lot for ur reply and time. this hint makes me little bit happy. otherwise i have to go to hatyai where i have neverbeen and then cross the border to malaysia. so tomorrow morning the first thing i will do is to go to immigration in bangkok with my wife to ask for this extentsion.

would be grateful if u can check ur private message inbox and reply me..

thanks once again..

Many thanks to everyone for their super-fast responses!

Malaysia here I come!

My neighbor an Austria passport holder, has married this year in Austria with a Thai. He told me about two months ago he can get a 60 day family visit extension at Soi Suan Plu, Bangkok, on his single "O" 90 days Visa from Vienna.

I didn't belive him first, but now...

His 90 days are near over and he'll try it out in the next days.
