A Thailand Fruit Golden Months Festival will be organised in eight cities in China as local governments have started easing lockdown measures.

Department of International Trade Promotion director-general Somdet Susomboon said on Saturday (May 23) that the festival will promote Thai fruits.

“The campaign aims to increase the export of durian, mangosteen, longan, coconut, mango, rose apple, pomelo and banana,” he said. “China will host the festival from May to July in Shanghai, Qingdao, Nanning, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xian, Xiamen and Kunming.

“The festival will be hosted in both offline and online channels. For offline activities, sales booths will be set up at leading department stores in each city such as Hisense Plaza, Leader, Ole, Yuehui Plaza, Carrefour, Lotus and Parkson,” added Somdet. “As for online activities, the department and the local authority will jointly host the online business matching from May onwards to invite Chinese retailers to order Thai fruits online to sell in their stores as well as hold promotional campaigns with Chinese mobile applications such as Geso and Hema to increase sales.

“The department will also promote Thai fruits in other markets, such as Singapore, Myanmar and Laos in a similar manner once the local governments ease lockdown measures,” he added.

Including the kinds the fruit-eating ...bats are fond of, may I expect? Isn't it? Nothing baD about those baTs from me.

"Life" has to start up again, but that this kind of no-news is given front page importance, shows how much lower than the very low levels of before Corona has "bombed" the Thai media is frankly startling.

Hmm, and how will the Thai people involved in this promotion action have access to the "P.R"China, without the obligatory 14 days quarantine, may I ask? And when they have to "sit it out", I hope they have thought about lettinf the fruit arrive under best conditions about 2 weeks later than them... No-news is news for the no-brainers, lap it up...

So let me get this straight a Fruit Growers road show.  In essence it looks like Thai growers go to China, quarantine for 14 days.  Fruit is then delivered to the airport and the Thais after quarantine ends for pick up and then putting on the festival.  They then return and are quarantined again for 14 days.  Total trip time plus quarantine, because 8 locations involved, 1 day to fly + 14 in Quarantine + 1 day for arranging transport and set up + 8 days of shows + 1 day to fly back + 14 days in Quarantine =   39 total days of Vacation paid for by the Thai Government, full expenses paid, all food included (I am sure it will be), and then the free accommodations.  Sounds like a righteous boondoggle to me!!!!!!
