UK leads fall in global trust in government COVID responses: poll

Sad to see really. But I get the impression that a few on this thread would rejoice if the U.K. fell into oblivion and chaos. It seems the divisive politics in the U.K. and elsewhere follow no matter where you go.

I regard indigenous as tracing back 3 generations..............bully for you.

You sound like a pompous self righteous politically correct pseudo intellectual,

whose "mates" are probably illegal immigrants

I live over half the year in Thailand.............some of my mates here may indeed be illegal immigrants, I've never asked them.

3  generations is a remarkably short time. By that calculation the great grandchildren of Indian and Pakistani immigrants to the UK are indigenous. Yet they usually intermarry, speak their own languages with each other and continue many of their native customs.

Not quite the same as Sharon from Barnsley of Jeffrey from Guildford.

Perhaps globalization is diluting the meaning of indigenous.

Not if but when.   The writing is on the wall.  Ignoring this fact will not make it go away.

Nor for that matter will the calls for manslaughter charges to be served on Johnson and wholly justified.

On the day that the UK (Wednesday) had more deaths than all the rest of the 27 EU countries combined this hapless oaf claimed he had done an excellent job over Covid

It is normal behavior to criticize and look for scapegoats in a crisis.

After things were looking up and ready to leave Merkels collective, along comes the virus that many now see as being mismanaged.

You should take that MSM covid statistic and place it in the file with- food shortages, peak oil, WMD's, climate change, diversity is our strength and man on the moon.

Newsnight made a lot out of an incredible statistic: that the UK had more deaths yesterday than the entire EU. The problem is the numbers are nonsense. The FT has exposed reporting on the continent to be littered with “flawed data”…

In fact some of the data in foreign countries is so dodgy that, according to the FT’s data guru John Burn-Murdoch, if England had adopted Spain’s new ‘method’, it would have reported just 20 new deaths

Maybe YOUR lonely island isn't too well-off for friends either.

Is there more a credible definition of MSM than 'newspapers which say things I disagree with'?

I should have known better than to click an Express link - now I feel dirty.

But what a shocker - another sensational Express headline, another let down of a story when you realise that they are actually referring to events of more than a decade ago. It is a great pity that the trades description act doesn't apply to newspaper headlines.

Then try the YouTube video if that's more to your taste - a recording from the Irish Parliament dated 6th. May 2020. You had a choice of two, each clearly stating the source but you chose the one that'd offend you. Strange.

Tragic and unbelievable.

And yet all too believable I am afraid.  Johnson living up to his original reputation of lying and conning the people.  Promising but never delivering.  As time goes by I am sure other governments will be exposed for their bad handling of the pandemic but you can be sure that Britain will be up there leading the way.

If there was ever a time when the country needed clear leadership and transparency then this is it but with Johnson and his cronies there is no chance of that.  Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it and so we just have to suck it up.

With 91 percent of UK Covid deaths among the over-60's it is clear that the government's failure to protect the frail elderly has put the UK on top of the mortality league.

The virus swept through unprotected and poorly medically equipped care homes like a forest fire, engulfing thousands of helpless victims with weakened immune systems and pre-existing medical conditions.

If this wasn't shameful enough, many hospitalised elderly patients were returned to residential and nursing homes while still infectious, ensuring the virus would continue its murderous rampage.

When this farcical exhibition of government crisis mismanagement is finally over, those responsible must be called to account for what amounts to criminal neglect.

Dont think anyone will be rejoicing.

We might however remind those who voted for it just exactly what it is they have done to the country.

I agree with the sentiment but in reality they won't.  Don't expect a breakout of truth and honesty any time in the future.  We will continue to be treated with the same distain that we always are.

Actually it was several years late, having been delayed as discussed ad nausium. No one could have foreseen the virus & nor would it have given the ???????????? a miss if ???????? was still shackled to the ???????? despite the constant balderdash to the contrary.

But the point is that we are living in 2020 - the events of 2008, while continuing to resonate, are the legacy of previous governments. By all means criticise the EU for its actions today, but yesterday is no more than a learning point.
