Sorry to disappoint you, but looting is not usual at protests in Australia.

The court ruling for Sydney was overturned, all protests were peaceful and police in some instances marching with the participants, handing out masks, and doing traffic control.

They are not people who are brain dead, surprisingly it is about empathy, if you understand what that may be.

Oh, they were warned about the looting then.......Bravo....????

I confirmed the raw number, now look at the proportions, and look at how more proportionately died from police/custodial actions. where as the majority of other deaths in custody of non Aboriginal were health /aged related not brutality.

Do not go with raw numbers, which mean sweet FA, unless interpreted well.

Basically if 65 % are non Aboriginal then will have higher a higher death rate, look at cause of death, look at incarceration rates, Take a deep dive into it

Objectivity helps

have you posted numbers ?

Authorities in Australia's most populous state of New South Wales (NSW) secured a Supreme Court injunction to prevent the largest rally planned for Sydney.

Judge Desmond Fagan said a gathering of thousands was "an unreasonable proposition" given state directives for no more than 10 people to gather.

The wet dream of all those "democratic" government - TOTAL control over the population.

They've been electronically monitoring people for ages - CCTV's everywhere, all those apps that demand total access to your phone, all credit/debit card records, location of anyone with a cell phone at any given moment (no need for smart phone with GPS, the simplest phone will do).

So now they have found the great opportunity to scare the population with a deadly virus. Sending out confusing and contradicting information, declaring state of emergency so no one can argue. But it's been 3 months now, in some places longer. People will demand their freedom eventually - at least where they can like going out, gathering, not keeping social distance. Maybe one day crowds will storm airport demanding flights to resume....

BTW - I am writing to you all from my cave in the mountains (secret location - don't ask where). I the send it to a friend using mail pigeon. he goes to a public internet place (won't disclose the location) and send it.

Back to seriously - governments around the world seized this golden opportunity of a scary virus to control and limit the freedom of the population.

Reports of police pepper spraying protesters in Sydney now. Everytime the police do this now it will just inflame it even more. The people who wanted these draconian lockdowns, well, this is what you get when the people get p*ssed off!

Nothing to do with the restrictions, which are being lifted, stay with some semblance of fact please

Thge ban was for one rally, one city in one state, it was subsequently overturned on an urgent appeal.

The rally was legal, police co-operated, controlled traffic, handed out masks etc, some marched.

Social distancing was attempted , masks hand sanitizers

The lockdown has nothing to do with it. Australia has not had a serious lockdown.

The people that wanted lockdowns ate medical professionals, would you rather just not listen to experts.

Btw, minimal arrests and pepper spray. Thousands of people and well behaved.

The guardian has created a searchable database.

"Over-policing and incarceration rates mean that while non-Indigenous people die in custody at a slightly higher rate than Indigenous people, the chance that an Indigenous person living in Australia will die in custody, or lose a family member in that way, is significantly higher."
