Need advice on applying for non-imm. O visa for child

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I hope everyone is doing well in these unfortunate times.

I would like to ask for any advice you can give for my situation.

I've been living and working in Thailand for several years. My wife is not Thai but also has been living and working here.

We have  a 3 year old daughter, who was born in Bangkok and its time to get her non-imm. O visa, her new school requires it.

So, is it possible to do this in-country? Or do you have to follow the standard protocol and get it outside the country and then re-enter?

Also, the list of requirements says that you need financial records from my employer and bank statements. Does anyone know what they will accept in this regard?

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Have you gotten a passport for your child? Have they left the country since their birth? If yes what type of visa entry do they have now.

To apply for the non-o visa at immigration they must have a visa exempt tourist visa entry.

Requirements are here. http://bangkokimmigration.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/04-edit_NON.pdf

They left last year and entered on a tourist visa but it has since expired.

Technically they are on a overstay but children under the age of 15 are not fined for a overstay. They do get a overstay stamp when leaving the country.

I am sure immigration will not accept the application for a visa with an overstay since that is clearly stated in their requirements.

You may have to wait until the borders open again to apply for a non-o visa or enter visa exempt to apply for it.

In reality there is no requirement for any type of visa for a child to attend school. But the overstay may be the problem now.
