So nothing in public view then, sort of like porn in the UK in the 1970's, only available in certain shops and you had to know where to go. Tell me, are you in favour of any other forms of censorship!

Clearly they are divisive on public display, protesters rallying to them and defenders standing guard next to them. The best place for statues is in museums and the general public can view them in a safe enviroment.

The police were being battered on the street in Hackney and being filmed.

Give an inch and you know the rest.

Funny how it is not considered newsworthy, isn't it? If it were Brits attacking the police, even doing 1% of the violence it would literally be headline news for months, nazi, racists, white supremacists bla bla.

It was one policeman grappling with a suspect and he got punched in the head by another, then a female policeman intervened. Hopefully they get dealt with for the assault. Boris has a complete lack of leadership that stems from not sacking Cummings and now has left the police exposed.

Books are in book shops and paintings are in museums/galleries. Statues can go to museums too with information on the pros and cons.

Would you like all the books kept together, so it saves time when you want to go and burn them all?
Statues must be kept in their intended public positions. They are not yours to remove however much you feel like being offended. They stay as a reminder to all that are enjoying the facilities and cities that they invariably contributed to.

So far so good, Rhodes is still standing.

There's an actual campaign "Rhodes must fall", whose sole purpose is to tear down the statue.

Oriel College standing firm so far. Thought one council woman had decided to tear him down, is that a different Rhodes statue?

In his 2003 speech, Mandela paid tribute to Rhodes, saying he was "part of shaping what present day South Africa turned out to be"

He said his legacy was "controversial" but that he should still be "remembered by posterity" for his philanthropy.

Relics of the past and will soon be gone.

Clearly you say....I don't think there's anything clear about a howling mob in a statue feeding frenzy. Did the population vote and did a majority agree the statues are divisive or did a few ne'er do wells and loutish vandals decide to circumvent the law and the democratic vote?

The general public didn't seem that bothered about them before, dirty pidgeon pooped eyesores with no resemblence to the modern world.

Ok, so the leader of Oxford council is of course a Labour woman, by the name of Susan Brown. She has no power to decide. She merely strongly supports the Rhodes must fall campaign and has written to Oriel College to suggest they apply for planning permission to have Rhodes removed. It us up to Oriel College if Rhodes goes or not.

Ah so it was only one policeman being battered is that ok? It was only one man in Minnesota and look where that got us.

Nothing at all to do with Boris or his leadership. Do you believe this street gang had even heard of Dominic Cummings? You have a vastly over rated opinion of the average Hackney thug's intelligence bruv.

Hackney is a dump. Wouldn't catch me walking around there on my own.

People tend not to complain about the things they take for granted, until those things are taken away from them, then they tend to scream pretty loudly. Strongly suggest you buy earplugs and stay tuned for chapter two of this story, it's not done by a long shot.

The police won't protect football thugs standing around statues, those idiots can never contain themselves.

A little bit more thought should have gone into this one, I can only assume that Health and Safety guidelines were not followed and a full appraisal was not conducted. Whilst in their days work of the removal of the statue, safety was not taken into consideration and it fell on somebodies head. Now I don't know whether to laugh or cry, well I do but I fear I might offend somebody if I tell the truth.????????????

That is just thucckking disgraceful.

As despicable as it is seeing any Policeman get assaulted you got to love the faux outrage of the right wing fascists when we have all seen them

in action on many occasions.

Suddenly they are sounding like the snowflakes.

Video on social media shows an officer pinned down on the ground and being kicked, while his female colleague is pushed when she tries to intervene.

Several men, including one with a baseball bat, surround the Scotland Yard officers swearing, shouting and filming on their phones, with one even dancing and taking a selfie during the assault.

Both officers suffered minor injuries in the incident, in Frampton Park Road, Hackney, east London, at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, Scotland Yard said.

Law and order is slowly breaking down in the cities, it was always going to happen with the lockdown and unemployment rising. This weekend will pit the left and right against each other with the police as the middlemen. The media are winding up both sides to clash as it's the agenda being set.

Just out of interest , who are the "right wing fascists" that you are referring to ?

This is the lot "protecting" the statues this weekend. Plenty of evidence that these are the football lads are protecting monuments and statues now. All loosely associated with Robinson and Golding.

No, its all happening because the Ant  Teethers have been going on violent rampages  and destroying our cities ..................and they need to be stopped .

And law abiding citizens will try to stop the Ant Teethers from smashing up our cities and towns
