A plucky water monitor - known as Tua Ngern Tua Thong (the silver and gold creature) when Thais are being polite - was filmed taking a Sunday stroll in downtown Bangkok at the always busy Victory Monument.

Thailand lockdown easing: Bang Saen and Koh Larn very busy - but Pattaya beaches remain deathly quiet

Manager reported that since June 1st Bang Saen beach in Chonburi and Koh Larn island off the coast of Pattaya had been doing a roaring trade.

Koh Chang: More than 100 budget and luxury hotels apply to join "stay one night get one free scheme"

More than 100 hotels and resorts have applied to be part of a "Think about Trat" promotion where visitors to the eastern seaboard province next to Cambodia that includes Koh Chang would get one free night for each one they stay.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's finance minister said on Thursday he has asked the central bank to closely monitor the baht <THB=TH> to ensure that it will not be an obstacle for economic recovery after it rose to its highest in more than four months against the U.S. dollar.

PHUKET: Police officers in Phuket have received personal protective equipment made available by a personal donation from Thai Royal Police Chief Gen Chakthip Chaijinda and his wife Busaba, who serves as the Head of Police Housewifes Association.

Thailand 'not free from pandemic threat yet'

Thailand cannot be considered safe from the Covid-19 pandemic, although there have been no new domestic cases for over 28 days, as the virus could spread at anytime, Dr Yong Poovorawan, Chulalongkorn Hospital clinical virology expert, warned on his Facebook page.

Tourism faces Bt1.78-trillion slump in revenue in 2020

Tourism revenue saw a steep plunge during the first five months of this year, down Bt752 billion year on year while the number of tourists dropped by more than 10 million people compared to the same period of 2019, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said.

Most digital platforms expected to fall in line regarding VAT registration

Tech giant Google is ready to register for the proposed value-added tax (VAT) in Thailand, while Netflix and Facebook have not offered a response as they are still evaluating the bill. The Cabinet recently approved the E-Service law or VAT collection from foreign digital platforms. The draft will be considered by the House of Representatives.

The outlook for Thai tourism suddenly looks brighter, with the fourth phase of lockdown easing from June 15 accompanied by domestic-travel stimulus packages such as Kum Lung Jai (Encouragement) and Tiew Pun Suk (Trips to share happiness). The packages will be submitted to the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Friday (June 12).
