Some good news then. Have to feel sorry for the bar owners and staff though.  18 days without a local case and still they can't open or make any money.

Restaurants are the new beer bars. Black has changed its tagline - You Will Never Dine Alone.

People will use restaurants to drink and many bars have a restaurant license. So a very mixed regulation.

Do the two metre restrictions still apply and how many people can sit at a table?

Many restaurants don't care.

Oh...so I can have a drink with my dinner and say cheers to my wife on the other table or behind the plastic- shield!

So you have some numbskull General with a bad haircut saying earlier the curfew will continue, and now it is announced it will not continue.

Can't someone in this government get a grip, and nominate a single proper spokesperson to announce the announcements.

Assistant, deputy, acting, mayor, general, chief police major, governor, fer gawds sakes.

They said they want to test 15 days without curfew if I remember correctly. But without curfew and by allowing alcohol everywhere they have opened a bigger part of the nightlife already even if they keep bars for instance closed.

Wine Connection now allows regular seating (4 at a table and no plastic screens). I guess many others are the same.

This makes perfect sense.

Night curfew to be lifted from June 15 but international travel to be controlled

By THE NATION

800_960a77b9b6fd9a9.jpg?v=1591942743

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) approved ending the night curfew from June 15.

The centre made the decision at its meeting on Friday (June 12). The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The 11pm-to-3am curfew will be lifted from next Monday (June 15) but the state of emergency in the country will continue. The centre decided to strictly control travel in and out of Thailand, as most of the Covid-19 patients in recent days were returnees from foreign countries.

The CCSA also said that some high-risk activities, such as the use of school buildings or some sports, will be relaxed in the fourth phase of the lockdown relaxation. Sale of alcoholic beverages will be allowed, as well as the holding of concerts. However, bars and pubs will remain closed in this next phase.

On Wednesday (June 10), the National Security Council had proposed the lifting of the nationwide night curfew for a 15-day trial period while maintaining the state of emergency.

Great news for restaurants and for many hotels like the one I am staying at which has dropped its room prices 75%. I have seen many examples of beer being served at restaurants in Bangkok in glasses you can't see through.

Also seating so you can't be seen from the street.

Many pub's in Bangkok have a restaurant license...anyone have any info on reopenings?

  • Popular Post

Thank goodness for that, we can move on.
Back to drinking the beer and wine we have been drinking out of coffee cups for the last 3 weeks in restaurants.
I already had invitations from two bars that are re-opening as "bistros". Can't wait to see what they look like and what food they will sell. Crisps, peanuts ?
I bet there will not be a bar left to re-open when the time comes.

...was walking past Chuvit Garden on Sukhumvit last week and a bar there, in full sight of the road was serving large beers in the bottle on the table!

two very thin ones, or one big fat one.

we not start it today so people can enjoy the weekend and businesses start making money again

It made no sense to have a national lockdown when most provinces have had no cases for over a month and those provinces prevented in and out provincial travel!

well earned and deserved relaxations.

Schools to reopen, restaurants can serve alcohol from Monday

By The Nation

The government has revealed which businesses and activities can reopen when the fourth phase of relaxed lockdown restrictions begins on June 15 (Monday).

Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), announced on Friday (June 12) that educational institutes would be allowed to reopen on June 15, and alcohol could be served in restaurants and hotels – but not in pubs, bars or entertainment venues.

On the education front, international schools and tuition schools are permitted to resume operations on Monday. Private and government schools can open for a maximum 120 students at a time. Other educational institutes, including universities, can begin seminars and workshops.

Meanwhile, gatherings for ceremonies, meetings, exhibitions, concerts, performances and events are permitted under the following conditions:

Meetings and seminars must provide a space of 4 metres square per participant.

Spectators at events, exhibitions, contests, or sports competition must sit or stand at least one metre apart. And music performances or concerts must provide 5 metres square per attendee.

Alcohol can be sold in restaurants, hotels and retail stores but entertainment venues, pubs, bars and karaoke joints remain closed in the fourth phase of easing.

Daycare centres for young children and seniors can reopen but need to provide 2 metres square per child and check body temperatures.

Science centres for learning can open to a limited number of visitors.

Film or TV shoots will be allowed a maximum 150 crew members while studio audiences are capped at 50.

Spas and saunas will also be permitted to reopen on Monday, but with mandatory mask-wearing, hand cleansing, and social distancing of five square metres between customers

Group exercise in parks will be allowed for groups of up to 50 people, with five square metres between participants.

Amusement and water parks can also reopen, but customer numbers are limited to one per 4 square metres while ball pools and bouncy castles must remain shut.

Sports competition now allowed without any audience in stadium but okay to broadcasting.

Game booth and game centre now available with shop operator keep clean to prevent the virus from spreading.

Domestic flights face no seating restrictions, though all passengers must wear face masks on board.

Obviously the message is drinkers are not trustworthy which is already a known fact. If this step leads to lack of virus control and a health issue I have no doubt they will shut it all down just as fast. So, I guess it's up to the drinkers to maintain virus awareness in public - trouble is 1 in 5 of you are already out of control so that becomes very problematic. So, if this experiment goes south and there's a covid spike, and if it gets all shut down again you can blame each other instead of the government.

Eighteen days? As far as I can tell, we only ever had six cases, over a three week period here in Samui, and the last one was around 5th April I believe.

it's a start...

Some marriages may benefit from such an arrangement due to negative disposition of one party or another.
