In London skirmishes, suspected far-right protester is rescued

LONDON (Reuters) - A man identified by the crowd as a far-right protester was carried to safety by a Black Lives Matter protester on Saturday as animosity was briefly set aside on a day of clashes in London between police and rival groups.

Pictures showed a white man clutching his head as a black man carried him over his shoulders, flanked by police in riot gear.

The man had been set upon on the steps leading to the Royal Festival Hall in central London and badly beaten, before other protesters stepped in to protect him, Reuters journalists at the scene said.

Earlier in the day there were skirmishes between anti-racism groups and far-right activists. Anti-racist protesters have rallied for days against racism and police abuses since the death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis last month.

Nice of the police to finally spring into action, although I did not see scenes of mass looting like when the BLM were "protesting". Wonder why the patriotic pro-statue crowd deserved a beat down?

In laymans terms a counter protester who probably was there to cause problems and violence. I mean why they **** they need to antagonize each-other. Just stay away from the black lives matter protests.

Nice of the black guy to bring him to safety, seems quite a few of them are not out to riot.

so a far left BLM Member is helping a far right thug, you couldn't make this up. Any sympathy that I felt for the BLM is fast disappearing. They are turning out to be a different set of thugs that the liberal left lemmings have latched onto and followed blindly.   It is a very worthy cause that is being hijacked.

“A far-right protester” ?

Great use of language by the “ far left media”

and a great photo opportunity by the “far left police” who are famous for not doing their job properly these last few weeks.

I blame the white guy, BLM guys were protesting somewhere, then those extreme right protesters start their protest close by to start a fight. Why can't they be sensible and stay away and protest somewhere else. Then he was fortunate that someone too pity on him and carried him to safety.

Right or left on Main Street, that's the choice we face everyday! ????

So only people who agree with blm are allowed, and it was the white's guys fault for being on the street.

As abhorrent as racism is, these scenes are beyond disgraceful. Sorry, but this is nothing more than employing rent-a-thug.

Of course not they are allowed to protest too, but they should be sensible about it and make sure the protests are not in close proximity. Its only stupid to do such and will lead to violence. By doing so they clearly show me they are out for violence. I have seen the same thing in my country when there is a protest for something. Then you got a group who is against those protests showing up causing trouble and making sure violence is started.

If you don't agree have your own protests but not at the same site. How hard is that.

We had the same with soccer fans, some would celebrate a victory and then the other side started to come to disturb it and cause violence. Just shows that they are out for violence and dont care about protests.

That is the police its job, and if the black lives matter had a city permit to go there then they were in their right. No need to take the law into your own hands.

Nothing sensible about any of this. Funny how when non-blm sympathizers get hurt there's a logical reason behind it.

You should read the news

A huge cry of “EDL”, which stands for the far-right English Defence League, went up and then demonstrators charged towards the station before police arrived in greater numbers and cordoned off areas.

The white extremist were the ones that started the violence. How hard is it not to antagonize headteacher and stay out of each others-hair. The ones looking for confrontation are the ones that are wrong.

The BLM March was cancelled, these weren’t official protesters, these were extreme left wing ( to your extreme right) thugs coming for a fight.

Copycat demos and violence around race after the far left media hyped the George Floyd protests to the max.

If you could see British tv you’d think the uk was an American state, news is dominated by American events, they’ve been transfixed on Trump since he won the election.

Ironically the Nelson Mandela statue will need to come down too and if there was no mistrust and hatred of black people before, there certainly is now in the UK.

As ive said before black people already enjoy many privileges over whites in the UK.
