Popular Post Kerryd
Keep in mind that girls dancing naked is also illegal in Thailand and that hasn't stopped any go-go from operating. That is the whole reason they have all those boys/girls at the front door of most places, to warn the people inside if they see any cops coming. More than a few times I've seen a red light start flashing in a go-go and suddenly all the girls on stage run off to the dressing room while other girls (properly dressed in skimpy bikinis) take their place on stage. Won't be any different a few days after they open again. They'll be careful at the start, knowing that people will be checking on them. After they get settled in though, things will slowly return to normal. Just most places won't be anywhere near as crowded as before and the "selection" may not be quite as good as before either. And when the red light flashes in the future, it will be to alert all the staff to jump up and stay a meter away from everyone else - and to put their masks back on. Bets on how long it takes before you see some dancers wearing face masks as bikini bottoms ? And then trying to put them on customer's faces ? (And how many customers would be trying to hoard all those masks for "later use" ?) Yeah, you know you want to. You know you are already trying to figure out how to get your favourite girl to do that for you. 12 hours ago, OneMoreFarang said: Is that not the way they operate these bars in some other countries? You can watch but can't touch? True in Canada at least (used to be at least, in most places). Dancers have to keep a set distance away from customers and no touching allowed, not even to grab money. They'll have inspectors go in pretending to be customers to make sure the bars/dancers are complying with the regs and those that don't risk losing their liquor license and being shut down. Many clubs had a distinct rail or separation between the "dance floor" and the customer that neither was allowed to cross (I recall, a long time ago, that in some places it was mandated that there had to be at least an 18" gap between the two). Each province had their own regulations though. In Ontario, the girls could perform lap dances but you couldn't lay a finger on them. I was back in Canada (Ontario) in 2006 and a friend of mine wanted to take me to a local strip club. I was bored within 5 minutes but he thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. I tried to explain what the clubs in Thailand were like, but it was like trying to explain riding a Harley to someone that had never even ridden a pedal bike before. Or trying to explain what cheesecake tastes like to someone who says they don't like cheese, or cake. He just couldn't accept that there could be places better than that strip club. (I just read an article that noted that strip club in fact and that it was shut down just 2 years ago.) Edited June 23, 2020 by Kerryd
ehs818
No video gaming or pub games like pool and darts will be allowed I've been patiently waiting for my favorite sports bar to open so that I could play pool. I guess that's not happening. Maybe it's time for me to consider buying a table for my home...
Kerryd
Lol "if they follow 22 iron-clad rules" But there's only 21 rules on that list !! What is rule #22 ?? (Yeah, you all assumed there were 22 rules listed, didn't you ?)
Popular Post ChipButty
Just go to makro buy yourself a case of Chang 790 baht for 12 bottles and sit by the pool turn the music on and get your wife or gig to dance around the pool serving your beer, save yourself a fortune Edited June 23, 2020 by ChipButty 2

cyril sneer
seems a little drastic for what will be over a month without a single case I dread to think what measures come in if we go back to 4 or 5 cases a day again

rtco
Only eating and drinking is allowed … so no touchy feely stuff then? Serving staff are required to wear a mask or face shield at all times … so you can’t see the merchandise? No service personnel or public relations representatives are allowed to sit with customers … would you want them to if they are wearing a mask and you can’t see what they look like? Patrons are not allowed to be loud or walk around the venue if not necessary … do what?

The pubs will complain that there's too many rules and that it's impossible to follow and the police will be sympathetic and thus no rules will be enforced. 1
Popular Post JonnyF
None of this will be enforced. It's just classic Thailand. 1. Pretend like you're serious about something for 5 minutes, act tough, big power, big face. 2. Create a plethora of rules that can't possibly be abided by so the person enforcing the rules has the power of deciding whether to apply the rules or look the other way for a fee. If the bars open (it looks like they will), there may be some token enforcement for a day or two before the cops have shaken down enough cash to go to a karaoke bar for Whiskey Sodas. 5

Popular Post phantomfiddler
Welcome to Thailand, the world,s most controlled country ???? I remember the good old days when you could fall out of your jeep, drunk, at a red light, and a cop would come over, laughing, and help you back into your seat. Things were better then ???? 5

toenail
I am glad the government is putting a lot of thought in this process of opening up to foreigners. It needs to be done in stages- we all understand that. But who thinks the Chinese should be on the priority list as travelers to enter the country. What is the criteria????
