Thailand reports no new domestic COVID-19 cases for 31 consecutive days

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Thursday reported one new coronavirus case detected in a Thai national returning from abroad, taking the country to 31 days without a local transmission.

Krabi Airport to get 5G facility through Huawei in pilot project

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) and Department of Airports (DOA) will provide 5G telecommunication services in collaboration with Chinese telecom giant Huawei at Krabi Airport as a pilot project before expanding to 28 airports nationwide.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand has extended the application period for the next central bank governor to July 10 to seek a wider range of candidates for a job to steer the economy through the coronavirus crisis, the selection committee said on Thursday.

HANOI (Reuters) - Despite successfully containing its COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam has no plans to open up to international tourists yet over fears that doing so could lead to a second wave of infections, the Southeast Asian country's prime minister said on Wednesday.

PHUKET: A police raid at a car repair shop on Wichit Songkham Rd in Kathu saw officers arrest four suspects who were later found to be possession of two handguns and 603.5kg of kratom leaves, much of which was already packed into bundles for sale.

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has ordered directors of Thai Trade Centres in China to monitor development of local online platforms, and also find new ways to promote Thai products in China to increase exports.

Supreme Court’s verdict on 5 UDD core members expected Friday

Unless there is another postponement, tomorrow (Friday) the Criminal Court is due to read the Supreme Court’s verdict in the cases of five core members of the red-shirt movement, officially known as the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), for their alleged roles in the violent siege in 2007 of the Ban Sisao Thewet government guesthouse, which is the former residence of late Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda.
