Another 6 groups of foreigners to enter Thailand in July

No, but nor does it say whether the flight ban is lifted and that incoming flights can land.  It doesn't specifically refer to any type of entry, and there many people stranded across the border in Laos and other neighbouring countries, who meet the conditions referred to in the 6 groups (including my wife and son!).

Hopefully, things will be clarified further tomorrow.

"There is no proposal to change the flight suspension and travellers can return with repatriation flights and special flights," he said.”

How about people with retirement visas? Don’t the want these back to curb local economy  ? Some of them have houses, apartments etc.  it will be a very very slow process. Let’s move to 2021 quickly

Yes, I think so.

But alternative quarantine which means a hotel.

Yea at your expense. So basically if you go for 2 weeks you cannot visit your family. Only thailand can offer in one hand and take away in the other

Typical Thai business model.

Create a problem and ask for money to get it solved.

Additional groups of foreigners will be allowed to enter Thailand from tomorrow (July 1), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) announced on Monday (June 29).

The announcement, which was signed by CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop and takes effect on July 1, stipulates that eleven groups of people will be allowed to enter the country via flights:

1. Persons with Thai nationality.

2. Persons who were invited by the prime minister or authorities responsible for the emergency.

3. Foreign spouses, parents or children of persons with Thai nationality.

4. Foreigners with residency rights in Thailand.

5. Foreign spouses and children of work permit holders.

6. Transporters of necessary products, who must leave the country immediately after their work is done.

7. Drivers and staff of vehicles that have to carry out necessary or important missions in Thailand and have a clear schedule for leaving.

8. International students and their guardians.

9. Foreigners and their carers seeking medical treatment in Thailand (except for Covid-19).

10. Staff of embassies, consulates, international organisations or representatives of foreign governments who have to carry out their mission in Thailand as allowed by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, as well as their spouses, parents, children.

11. Foreigners who are allowed to enter Thailand as per special arrangements.

All visitors will be tested for Covid-19 and need to follow the regulations issued by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and the Department of Disease Control, including completing a mandatory quarantine period.

CAAT will also allow in state or military aircraft or emergency landings, technical landings without any passengers disembarking, humanitarian aid and medical or relief flights, repatriation flights and cargo aircraft.

The special arrangement will initially allow entry to 200 foreigners per day. That number will increase when more alternative state quarantine (ASQ) rooms are made available. The special arrangement will allow entry to groups of no more than 10 people for a short period. Visitors will be tested for Covid-19 prior to travel and on arrival in Thailand, where they will be monitored constantly by health and security officials. They must submit their Thailand itinerary in advance and will only be allowed to travel by private car.

I guess that will allow all the overseas auto trade figures to attend the auto show in July !

And keeping in mind the 200 a day is counting for the whole   group of 6 ,not for each group separate ….!

Probably depending of importance decided by the embassy staff....

a long waiting list could be the case depending of your importance for Thai gov. interest in you ….(?)

The CAAT don't make the rules, they follow them.  There is supposed to be a Cabinet meeting today and hopefully that will provide more (much needed) clarification.

Some foreign airlines have been flying, they have been coming in empty due to government regulations.

Complete silliness. Why would anyone in their right mind welcome ANY Chinese back. The virus came from China along with the Asian flu, Hong Kong flu, SAARS, Bird Flu, Swine flu...should I go on?

Over 100 countries in the world  have condemned the CCP (China) for lying about the Wuhan Coronavirus and the leaders of Thailand accept the lies from the CCP about their control of said virus? Of course, Thailand knows more than over 100 combined countries. There have been over 3 million cases in China. The only reason that Thailand is allowing the Chinese back  is serious support within the corrupt government of Thailand for the country to become a vassal state of China. Lots of money must be changing hands somewhere. This is the result of what the country gets when it is led by a general who led a coup against the elected government, said that he had no interest in becoming the country's leader, promised a return civilian control within 6 months, moved to change the constitution to pack the government with unelected military officers, prevented open campaigning against him, banned opposition political parties and is STILL IN POWER YEARS AFTER LEADING THE COUP???? Democracy? That is a Western concept and not an Asian one.

Again, There must be big money changing hands somewhere.

God save Thailand.

They only now expand alternative state quarantine. I heard hotel owners are desperate because nobody can tell them how to become a quarantine hotel.

They will receive the correct information when its needed..

I'm very interested to see if people in the U.S. can get the silly fit to fly certificate. I'm guessing, no. So, if I go home, I don't expect to be able to come back for a long time.

Why not and why silly?

What's so silly about the family doctor issuing a fit to fly statement?

"God save Thailand."

God protects, saves if you will, drunks and children, and He has a special subcategory of these for Thailand which will come through.

This is part of the confusion. They keep making announcements to the effect that the CAAT has banned certain passengers, or the AOT requires people to fill out health declarations, which makes it seem that there are a bunch of little fiefdoms making their own decisions - when what is actually meant (apparently...) is that the government has made the decision, and the individual agency or office is merely in charge of implementing it.

This lack of clarity is also seen when they keep saying "foreigners residing in Thailand" when they actually mean "foreigners with permanent residency"; "ban on international flights" when they actually mean "ban on incoming International passengers"; and "lockdown" when they actually mean "closing of certain businesses". The result is a lot of confusion on the part of people trying to understand what is actually going on.

Seems to be the solution to anything in Thailand, a miracle envelope you might call it. if you want to be fully qualified from a Thai university, easy peasy. Fancy murdering your enemy? no problem. You want top job in the Police, it's yours. Build a house on restricted land, crack on... How about get pis**d and off your t*ts, drive your Ferrari like a maniac, plough down a copper and drag the guys corpse down the road and enjoy an extended holiday whilst it blows over.. that too is completely possible with an envelope of appropriate size. ????

Still no regularly scheduled flights then (according to the official statement on facebook).

What it states is that the the airlines will now be allowed to organize and process the qualified passengers themselves under a special permission obtained from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (if granted).

I am in group 3. My Thai wife and I were planning a trip back to Zombieland (the US) in mid September, returning here early November. Business and family stuff. If we were able to get letters showing we were negative for Covid, prior to departure, would we be subject to quarantine? Since my wife will be traveling with me, not sure how that effects the foreign husband returning to the Thai wife qualification.

How do you qualify? I heard you have to request this at the Thai consulate in the US? Is it a lotto system, of some sort? 200 a day seems like a very low number. That is half a plane load of people.

Is residency rights a PR, or is maybe a condo lease enough? ????
