Had this in 1987 and had it teated with surgery in Hospital in the UK, they said it might re occur but did not until this week. Anyone know what the treatment is these days and have a good Dr recommendation in Bangkok? For those who never had it I hope you never do, very painfull.

I have had this twice both times in Thailand. The first time when the doctor said "I have to cut you" I told them to fill me with antibiotics and took a coach ride to Phetchabun and it bursts on the way.

Second time I let the doctor cut me and the anaesthetic wasn't working.

Why do I get this when I visit Thailand?

Sounds like you may have had a peri-rectal abscess, not a simple fissure.

Antibiotics won't help a fissure.

Chula: you have to just show up and very, very long wiats are the norm. Also much of the care will be by students under the Prof's direction. For which reason I suggest BCH where you will be treated by the Prof himself.

It is first come first serve at BCH  but you can make an appointment. Be sure to arrive at least an hour, preferrably 2, ahead of time. You will need to first register for a patient number, then go to the surgery clinic to get in the queue. At that point if it is before his hours you can zip out for lunch and return but get back at least 15-30 minutes ahead of time.

It is conveniently located on Silom near the Saladaeng BTS stop.

Fissures do not burst. Abscesses do. (One can of course have both, a fissure and then an abscess at the fissure site).

I unfortunately had this Anal Fistula in June last year after almost 7 years. Went to Samitivej, was checked by the doctor. Appointment made for the operation the next day. Reached there at the appointed time. Was given general anesthesia, which I found strange as I had done some research online, where just local was sufficient. Anyways, the operation done while I was in slumber land. Woke up 3 or 4 hours later in 1 of their rooms. The doctor came to check me after about an hour. Told me I had to stay over night, but I told him I was feeling fine so I would like to check out. Take home medication was provided and I was presented the bill. Around THB 140,000. Almost fainted, luckily have insurance. They paid all. 7 years back the bill was approximately 30,000.

A fistula is quite different from (and much more complicated than) a fissure which is what OP has.

I eat spicy food all the time never usually have a problem. The bum gun is great for cooling off your nether regions.

Swamp ass?

infected hair follicles?

mosquito bites?

I don't wear underwear ????

You probably did as fissures do not burst.

OP, I had it 15 years ago.

Surgery is called an LIS (Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy)

You are right, may be the most painful thing I have every experienced.

Put up with it for one year.  The surgery is one of the best things I ever did.

If you search there is plenty of info. on Doctors, etc in Bangkok for this.

Good luck, hope you get it resolved soon.
