But thanks for a good laugh. Competent leadership should have started at the very top in the Executive branch..where the national response (if you want to call hiding behind and blaming governors not in your party and forcing the nation to go in 50 different directions and bid against themselves for PPE) has been bungled, and lied about as recently as VP Pence last week: "We have flattened the curve". Now POTUS is ignoring the pandemic because it does not play well to his failing re-election campaign. New York went into their wave with far less knowledge and experience than what the fine governors of Texas, Arizona and Florida enjoy now. Their responses have been FAR WORSE given the knowledge of the virus with New York's experience and the added time they had to prepare. (Unless you call opening up and a month later watching your spike surge like Mt Everest and then closing back down again "success") All the while POTUS wont wear a mask, has huge gatherings where his sheep dont wear masks either and gets his Barbie Doll mouthpiece to call "hot spots"....oh...LIKE THE STATE OF TEXAS AND THE CITY OF HOUSTON...."embers". Competent leadership...the man wanted to open up the whole nation on EASTER...and inject some disinfectant for "a good cleaning"...November cannot come soon enough. 1
johnpetersen
Here is an excerpt from and a link to an excellent article from nature.com. Nature is one of the world preeminent publishers of scientific research The World Health Organization says the evidence is not compelling, but scientists warn that gathering sufficient data could take years and cost lives. "When public health officials say there isn't sufficient evidence to say that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne, they specifically mean transported in virus-laden aerosols smaller than 5 micrometres in diameter. Compared with droplets, which are heftier and thought to travel only short distances after someone coughs or sneezes before falling to the floor or onto other surfaces, aerosols can linger in the air for longer and travel further... And if SARS-CoV-2 is transmitting in aerosols, it is possible that virus particles can build up over time in enclosed spaces or be transmitted over greater distances." https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00974-w
sezze
I think some people fail to see the difference between airborne and can travel through air . It might look the same but it is very different , and much more dangerous if is is airborne . Airborne means , aerosols can bring the virus over . A virus can stay "alive" long enough without lots of help of water particles ( aka saliva ) . Can travel , means , any virus which can be transmitted through saliva can travel the distance of a few feet/meter and after that it is more then likely death . Difference is transmission is huge , since supermicro droplets ( viral size ) can travel huge distance in the air and infect other people , and even can stay significant more time just floating around waiting for somebody to pick it up . In both cases social distancing still work , and masks are better then no masks , but in case of airborne , if somebody in a unventilated room coughs , you might even get it when you are standing 10m away , or even come in the room 1 hour later . Already at an early stage of the pandemic it was informed of that the virus can spread through air for about 10-20 meters in small droplets. In other words, they learned nothing new. They just want 15 minutes of fame by repeating what´s already known. No news at all. They are not saying the same thing if you read the actual article I post below. It's not just transmitted by droplets that fall to the ground after coughing/sneezing but lingers in the air as an aerosol. Not readily transmitted by touching surfaces. 239 Experts With 1 Big Claim: The Coronavirus Is Airborne https://www.yahoo.com/news/239-experts-1-big-claim-151916602.html?.tsrc=notification-brknews The coronavirus is finding new victims worldwide, in bars and restaurants, offices, markets and casinos, giving rise to frightening clusters of infection that increasingly confirm what many scientists have been saying for months: The virus lingers in the air indoors, infecting those nearby. That's not true unless you are talking about pure mortality rates. Even if we assume that the actual number of infections is 10x the official numbers (which is quite possible) the mortality rate would be at about the 0.5%. But that's dead people. There is a far higher number (5x or more) number of hospitalizations. And they are still discovering lingering effects on those who have had serious cases. 3. That one is still up in the air and sounds like wishful thinking. There have been people who tested negative and then later tested positive but the general consensus is that those were not a reinfection. But while some diseases can only be acquired once that isn't the case for most things. In other corona virus' the immunity period can range from months to years but is generally not permanent. Considering that Covid-19 only started really spreading outside of China in the past few months it's way too early to know much there.

from the home of CC
imo the real news here it is 'possible' that covid could be contagious in droplets small enough to be transferred throughout a buildings central air system and in fact some of the studies were from testing hospital wings for various levels of contagion. It brings up the idea that perhaps these systems need special air filtering..
