Thailand says monkey labour 'almost non-existent' after UK shop ban

Ok Mr Superiority.

How you get the coconut from the tall old tree?

Burmese kids?

Ok Ms Superiority. I think you missed the part where the Minister said they no longer use monkeys. Here it is:

"Using monkeys for the coconut industry is almost non-existent," Thai Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit told reporters, saying human labour had long ago replaced monkeys.

So maybe you're right. Maybe Burmese kids are being exploited instead of monkeys. Is that better and sales should be allowed?

So now we have mass monkey unemployment here too

  • No problem, they can get jobs in Prayut Government.????

monkeys are unemployed because of WHAT. the world is getting ...... fill in the blank.

Well this is just fantastic isn't it? Boris' girlfriend now makes UK policy, the vegan animal rights zealot.

This explains why we can't buy Waitrose croissants anymore. Of course Thai supermarkets are removing UK products in patriotic tit for tat.

Was there not monkeys roaming the streets in one of the Thai cities a while back

Now we know why they were complaining about their working conditions

Plus  protesting about losing their jobs

Making animals work for humans? Outrageous! Boris Johnson's gf on this, so you know it's got to be real....
Next up: all HORSES except wild ones: no races, no carriages, no carts, no honor guards, no mounted cops, no riding schools, etc etc. DOGS: no seeing eye dogs, no drug sniffers, no K-9 corp, no guard dogs, no dog sleds (tho it seems they love that, but who knows true feelings?), no sheep herding dogs, no support dogs, etc. HONEYBEES: kept in unnatural cells, they work selves to death & then we steal the product of their labor! Paul Bunyun must set Babe free now! Camels! Birds! Falconry! Parakeets!
Pets! Tropical fish stolen from Asia & Australia have huge %age of death rates in transport (50%?), then put in some little glass box! We neuter our pets! How'd you like them to do that to you? Burmese pythons dumped in everglades and eating gators like red necks and pork rinds!
I'm sure many many more examples

This has nothing to do with labor( or monkeys), the set up is to easy.

This is a message, comply or............

someone is not taking orders. Expect more of the same.

CCP is in deep financial do do. Won’t be long.

Sources say.

It takes skilled hands and dedication to use a mop and a bucket. More so now than ever.

Yes but you nor anyone else has proven a link to mistreating pet monkeys and agriculture. As I said one can find pet monkeys chained to a post in Asia without a coconut in sight.

Mostly this is all touchy , feely, guilt ridden western stuff.

He nor anyone else has to prove a link to mistreating pet monkeys and agriculture.

What must be proven is that the animal has agreed to be a part of the agricultural industry.

In the absence of any such agreements then use of ANY animal without consent is paramount to slavery. AKA touchy, feely, guilt ridden western stuff.

And what about those poor horses used on some cattle stations.

Sheep dogs arnt beaten to round up sheep and chained up... get a clue.

Have you seen Monkeys being beaten in training,   c'mon, give us a clue.

My house is surrounded by coconut trees, and they get picked frequently.

I've never seen monkey or humans climb up the trees, as they use a very long bamboo stick to cut the coconuts, and yes I estimate that those sticks are more than 15 meters long.

True and I have seen them tying like 3 of those long bamboo poles together to reach really tall trees near my place.  They are truly skilled at their trade. Also no monkeys in sight.

Nah, the ones already there in force will keep them out.

"Prime Minister Boris Johnson's fiancée Carrie Symonds."

I think the clue is Boris's fiancée, and a grip on reality you expect from Briton Trump.

So you have proof that monkeys are beaten and chained up? Maybe have a leash? Sheep dogs are usually caged or put in a pen of some sort! When not working! But same principles the dog is worked to round up sheep the monkeys to collect coconuts!

Send a monkey up a tree or kill chickens/cows/pigs for there meat.

Think the monkey has the better deal.

Plus the fact that every monkey i have seen picking coconuts appears to be quite happy. The place where i get my virgin oil from on Samui has several monkeys which they treat like family.

It's called industrialisation.

But i call it juvenile imagination.

You have the option to not buy products that profit from animal exploitation same as British retailers have the option not to stock or sell them.

I'm curious, how do you gauge happiness in a monkey from a few seconds interaction and next to no anthropological or zoological knowledge whatsoever?

Yup, soon there will be monkey mass protests in the streets, demanding handouts of peanuts from the government instead of cash.

Just now, Huckenfell said:

Doesn't matter what you call it, products that profit from animal exploitation in Thailand will not be sold at British retailers.

US and EU will no doubt follow suit.

Time to industrialise or perish.

You attach a sharp sickle to a long bamboo pole, extend this with another one, lift up the sickle up into the tree, behind one ore more coconuts, cut the stem with a short downward movement, and take a step back, when the coconut comes down.  I have done this on a coconut plantation on Koh Ngai, and there are no monkeys. With a little practice one can be very productive.

Come to Samui where we have some very tall old trees, and do this.

Or Bait fish which are small fish caught for use as bait to attract large predatory fish, particularly game fish. Species used are typically those that are common and breed rapidly, making them easy to catch and in regular supply. Examples of marine bait fish are anchovies, gudgeon, halfbeaks such as ballyhoo, and scad.

I don't know if it is a side effect of Covid, but PC is really going over the top now.

OK, ok.  Hold the COVID news.

We really need to get this monkey <deleted> sorted out.

Is there any way that I can get coconut oil made from albino pygmy midgets?  I'm into that.  Like REALLY REALLY into that.

That statement in itself says it all ????

I wonder if any of the 14 or so million Thai's that could lose their jobs due to Covid-19 would be willing to climb up trees to collect coconuts for money to feed their families....hmm, the article says 370,000 are from the farming sector.

When did Thai's care for the Burmese cheap labourers Yinn ?

Just a few months ago i watched the "monkey man" arrive next door with his little mate. It took them a couple of hours to clear about a dozen trees of coconuts, about 50 nuts in all . Are they trying to tell us that this is how Thailand gets its coconut milk for export, if they actually believe this, what idiots. Those trees were just too tall and old to get the nuts in any other way. I noticed that the monkey boss called his little mate down for a rest on several occaisions, they sat on the back of his truck whilst he had a smoke and even before he had distinguished his fag butt , the monkey was back up the tree without any order. To me it looked as though it was enjoying the job, so where does torture come into it .  This was at the back of my bungalow at Maenam Beach Koh Samui, so perhaps the Brits have never heard of KS .

Let them loose at a Wat and let them fight to the death for food.  It's far more humane.  ????

Yes, leftist twinkie twits think that in the jungle monkeys swing from trees, sleep on branches, and food is just.... everywhere.

Yes, this is how they harvest the lower trees.

they should start a union... but, do they even have WP ? and health insurance ?

On Samui which is probably one of the oldest coconut producing areas in Thailand, there are some very tall trees.

This is not true. I see many Thais here driving their monkeys to pick coconuts. There are also 3 monkeys down the street from us. I see 2 of them regularly, and they're restrained by short chains 99% of the time. It's so sad. The 3rd monkey I see being walked and beaten and screamed at by his owner. I should get videos & pictures.

Do it then or stop your B/S !
