SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia's most populous state reported 14 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, with a growing cluster at a pub used by freight drivers travelling the country adding to fears of a second national wave of the virus.

A police captain, who was dubbed “Thailand’s Bruce Willis” because he looked like the Hollywood star, killed himself after an apparent drunken argument days earlier with his wife in an apartment at the police flats in Udon Thani’s Meuang district.

New COVID-19 infections in Thailand are highly contagious G viral strain – Dr. Yong

The coronavirus strain, found among quarantined Thai returnees from abroad, is the mutated G strain, which has been spreading in the United States and Europe. It is not the S strain, which originally spread in Thailand, according to Dr. Yong Poovorawan of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s top virologist.

Concern over infected Egyptian soldier in Rayong quarantine – among 3 new Covid-19 cases

Thailand saw three new confirmed Covid-19 cases, including that of an Egyptian soldier, in state quarantine without any death over the past 24 hours, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), reported today (July 13) – the 49th day without any domestic case.

A woman who was driving from Nong Bua Lumphu to Bangkok to find work decided to stop and take a dip in a canal outside Nakhon Nayok’s Cholapruek Resort and think about where her life was taking her. She had lost her job in Prachinburi due to the Covid-19 fallout.

PHUKET: Bangkok MP Sira Jenjaka, who also serves as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights, yesterday revealed that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has filed a formal request with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to prosecute Phuket officials over the construction of The Peaks Residences condo project in Kata, on Phuket’s southwest coast.

Thai officials tracing anyone who may have been infected by Egyptian soldier

The CCSA is asking anyone who thinks they may have had physical contact with an Egyptian soldier, who was on a short visit to Thailand last week and later tested positive for COVID-19, to come forward for testing, said CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin told a news briefing today (Monday).
