Home blood tests for elderly from next month

The elderly can have their blood tested at home from next month, in the latest telemedicine innovation aimed at reducing risk of Covid-19 and other infections.

 

Facebook celebrity doctor Mor Lab Panda (aka Parkpum Thephussadin) revealed that the pilot BangkokTeleLab project plans to send medics to elderly patients’ homes to collect and test blood samples from August.

 

The pilot project is being launched by Bangkok’s Vajira Hospital and will start by testing bedridden patients who would otherwise have to book a car at a cost of Bt2000-Bt3,000 to transfer them to hospital.

 

The next phase will focus on the elderly to prevent in-hospital density and reduce the risk of virus transmission.

 

Parkpum thanked Bangkok City authorities for approving and supporting the project.

they draw blood themselves? that would be telemedicine and send by ems, but now an MD or nurse have to come home of the patient, wow, they only did this for the last 50-70 years in my home country

Some private hospitals in Bangkok have been offering this service for at least the past 2-3 months perhaps longer.

 

Not sure why it would need approval from "Bangkok city authorities". Sounds like media blurb to me.

Why limit this service to the elderly? I'd prefer a home visit as well and I'd pay for it.

 

Couldn't agree more! Good move, no matter who gets the credit.

So, they do have antibody testing now. It was implied when 20% of the 100k tested returned positive for the antibodies.
