Bkk IO giving 30 days extensions from today?

Have been reading interesting fb post on Chiang Mai news group about Visa amnesty not being continued and btw came across a reply stating that bkk IO has issued a 30 days free extension today!

 

Anyone to confirm that?

Could be that the announcement will be that the amnesty is extended from July 26 to September 26. Some good news, but not worth much until it's official. But thanks anyways for the update! ????

Somebody says something on FB must be true then. BTW amnesty is till July 31, not 26

Actually he didn't specifically state that the extension was free.

I suspect that he just applied for the regular 30 day extension for which he paid 1900THB. In this case he did obviously waste 16 days of his extension, or in case the amnesty is extended he wasted 1900THB..

Make sense. I have forgotten that US gets 30 days not 7 like most countries...

All countries that get 30 days visa exempt on arrival can apply for one 30 day extension.  Not just the US.

7 days are normally the extension you get to leave the country when you don't meet the requirements for any other extension.

No they don't,people from countrys which have Bilateral agreement with Thailand cant extend there stay,they must leave the country on the 30th day.

Just heard on another forum from a well connected member. Who states it is now confirmed that they will not issue any extensions to existing visas without an embassy letter. Without you will have to leave the country when the amnesty expires. Even if you have not had a previous extension prior to the amnesty.

That seems BS. There are several reports of offices doing 30 or 60 day extensions.

Looks the choices for leaving Bangkok are Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon and Phuket.

I guess you got this from the Visa Advice Facebook group? There is quite a lot of wrong information given in this group. After the admins answered (often wrong, or at least not precise), they close commenting so other people can't correct them.

Currently applying for a 30 day or 60 day extension (if you qualify for one) just doesn't make sense (some offices might even inform you about this, others might just let you apply). Wait until it's closer to the end of the month (maybe they automatically extend everybody again), before deciding to get this extension.

Departed already or later tonight. Several airports allow transit already but that's another topic. Plenty of options to fly out from Thailand.

Right, did you even read that list? 25 international flights on that list departed or about to and 9 cancelled. What's the problem?

Problem is buying a ticket and then having a 30%+ chance of it being cancelled. Money stuck or lost.

So you didn't check that list. Most cancellations was to Japan and Manila.

 

These been flying during these rescue times, no cancellations.

Didn't see Lufthansa today on that list but there are several other EU flights. Finnair flying 3-4 times per week with good connections.

Before booking a flight its easy to check on flightradar what is the recent history of particular flight number.

I have to agree with you. That's hardly an encouraging list of international destinations. It's also reliant on being able to make connecting flights, unless one of those happens to be your final destination. And as you shrewdly pointed out to our helpful poster, what happens if you're one of the unfortunate ones that has his flight cancelled at the last minute? It's all very well posting a threadbare list of options and saying "there you go, what's your problem?" but the logistics are something entirely different if you're the one faced with this dilemma.

Not saying that IO might not consider doing so (this is Thailand, so anything is possible), but it is at odds with the confirmed report of someone successfully applying for the 30-day extension of stay from his already expired TouristVisa.  That was yesterday at CW > see attached link.

More important is to find out whether his already expired tourist visa has also exhausted his one allowed 30-day extension.  If he had not already exhausted that, then it was just a standard extension, and NOT a special extension due to "the covid situation".

He would not have been able to apply for the 30-day extension from his TouristVisa entry, if he already applied for one.  You are only allowed one of such extensions per entry.

The point is that his not-used-yet 30-day extension application was his 'life-line' because it allowed him to apply for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa, from a 'valid' permission to stay.

Some offices do not allow you to apply for a new Visa or 1-year extension of stay, if you are on an Amnesty extension.

So that means the amnesty is not technically extended yet for special circumstances. We all still need to wait and see what they say. (e.g. no additional extensions granted beyond your standard one). So the person who posted that their friend got a 30-day, was just a standard one. And the only thing we have to go on is the part that says the IO verbally informed them an additional one MIGHT be granted for a fee on 26-Sept for them.

Yes Jackdd I Always thought that was the case....What / Who are this Tod Daniels & Robert Lagas Anyway ?? Are They Immigration EXPERTS ??
