Health Insurance for HIV+

Featured Replies

I am wondering if there is any insurance company in Thailand who do not look for the HIV status. Any suggestions or recommendation where can I apply for it? THANKS!

You mean you want cover for a pre-existing condition?

You may find a Health Insurance that doesn’t ask specifically about HIV, however, all will ask to note any pre-existing conditions and whether or not you have had to received hospital treatment within the past x years.

There may also be a moratorium on any conditions such as cancer, HIV etc.

If you are looking for cover and then ‘discover’ that you (or someone else, if you are asking for someone else) has HIV (i.e. after the a moratorium period) they may look very closely at your existing hospital records. Thus be careful where you are registered etc.

Additionally, be very careful with cost of cover - In Thailand there is less control over premiums and if you’ve calmed for a serious condition in the previous year the cost to extend Health Cover for a following year could be prohibitive.

Lots of details to check into.
