PM defends proposed extension of state of emergency

PM-Censure-Debate.jpg

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Tuesday defended a proposed extension of the state of emergency for another month, maintaining that such an extension has nothing to do with anti-government protests.

He insisted that the state of emergency is still necessary because the existing laws do not cover some aspects relating to controlling the COVID-10 pandemic, and assured that it is not related to anti-government protests, which can be dealt with under public assembly laws.

The Prime Minister said, however, that he is concerned about the students who joined the protests and has instructed officials handle the protests with caution.

Make yourself PM for life like your mate Xi.

The students are more popular than he is .   They certainly seem to own a moral compass.  He, on the other hand, just talks about how his government is the beacon of goodness.   He is all talk.

Do you prefer blood on the streets like 1973?

You should be glad he is not trigger happy like Dutertes in the Philippines...

Would you buy a used car from a man with this grin?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Of course he is extending his and his groups emergency now he has a real worry with the students and other citizens wanting him and them out.. When I look at the photo sort of make me nauseous with him and that smirk smile.

I’d prefer the army didn’t resort to killing unarmed protesters, of course. But that’s on the army. Not the protesters.

Should I also be glad he isn’t committing genocide like Xi in China? Is it okay for leaders to do what they like as long as it’s not the worst thing?

He’s looking on from behind the emergency decree with his head occasionally popping up to see if it’s safe to come out.

The protesters aren’t going anywhere and he can’t keep hiding behind the decree. He’s gonna have to come out eventually and face the music.

First Article 44, now state of emergency. Some folks have a difficult time relinquishing control because they crave it.

One wonders when the Thais will get to China's 1949 stage? Fed up with government, army, police and someone residing in Europe.
