Any Official Notice of the New Amnesty?

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen an official notice of the new amnesty extended to 26-Sept?  I know there are lots of news websites reporting it, but specifically, has anyone found a link to the recording of it in the Royal Gazette?

It's not in the Royal Gazette yet, it was weekend and today and tomorrow is holiday.

They met on a weekday no? Or did they not agree on it until Saturday?

They agreed on it last Tuesday, but uploading it to the Royal Gazette doesn't happen instantaneous, at least these steps are required, for which they had 3 days time so far:

- Write what they agreed in a proper document

- Prayut has to sign it

- It has to be uploaded in the Royal Gazette

If Prayut wasn't in his office or the Royal Gazette admin was sick, then this can of course cause a delay.

Does the Thai immigration website qualify?

That is the one that has been posted here and in the news forum.

I question some of what it says though since it contradicts what was in the cabinet resolution for the extension of the ministerial notice approved on April 7th.

I believe Immigration may be able to create a fait accompli, even if the policies they publish are not exactly what the cabinet resolved. What Immigration decides to enforce is only an issue if Prayut decides to intervene. He may well not.

Even earlier during the amnesty, I think Immigration has enforced policies that were not as the cabinet intended. For instance, I believe one intention was that late applications for one-year extensions ought to be allowed during the amnesty. For the most part, without the use of agents, that does not appear to be what has happened.

I wonder why the U.S. Embassy is still "waiting for this information to be verified."  ???

My understanding is that there is no further amnesty after 31/7. It is over.

There is a 'grace period' until 26/9 so that visitors on a VOA or tourist visa can leave. They will be fined if they do not.

All other visa types should go to their local IO before 26/9 and discuss next steps.

No, I cannot quote one single source for this, this is my undersatanding after reading LOADS of announcments.

Again, it seems to vary IO by IO. I am recommending to my guests that they go to their local office before 26/9. The earlier, the better.
